PAX Unplugged is less than a month away! 👾🎲🃏 From December 6th - 8th Hero will be back in Philly for our favorite show. Even though I’m still working on getting everything finished for Reign of the Onyx King, I’ll have the doodle deck available for demos as well as other goodies at the booth. If you’ll be attending the show please swing by and say hi! My favorite part of conventions is being able to meet fans of the game. PAX Unplugged is this weekend! Be sure to check out Hero at booth 4156. As we geared up for PAX I’ve been showing off the 3 new heroes coming soon in the mini Hero expansion pack. This week is all about Briar, the Wild Witch of Thorns. Briar is a wicked witch that just wants to be left to her bog. Why is it that everyone starts bothering her just because a few children go missing? A girl’s gotta eat, right? Briar has a unique “leave me alone” strategy that allows her to ping enemy heroes for damage whenever her or her companions are targeted or bothered. Her other abilities play off this theme, giving you a trigger or boon when your opponents play cards or do anything other than just leave her be. PAX is a week from Friday! Are you hyped? Cause I’m hyped 😱 This week we’re revealing the ooze monstrosity known as Ju’golach, the Maw from the Red Canyon. I came up with Ju’golach when I was working on a Hero that sacrificed their own companions, and the ooze idea just ended up being in the back of my head around the same time...so I thought why not make a Hero that ATE their companions? Ju’golach has been a lot of fun to play around with. I find it endlessly amusing how HORRIBLE their stat line is until you realize how limitless their hero ability makes them. PAX Unplugged is just a few weeks away! Over the next 3 weeks as we get ready for the convention, I’ll be revealing what the heroes of the upcoming mini expansion can do. First up is Gwendolyn Vale. I built Gwendolyn as a hero to answer a strategy I saw frequently cropping up, and that was certain heroes allowing players to draw many cards and hoard them in their hands. Gwendolyn answers this in an interesting way; by giving everyone extra cards, but punishing enemies holding more than 5. This makes her playstyle a double-edged sword. You’re giving your opponents extra cards, but forcing them to be less strategic with them or risk taking damage. Check back on Thursday to see the rest of her abilities and see how they fit together with her playstyle.
