The Pack will take on the Rochester Americans for the second and final time this season on Wednesday night as part of their current four-game road trip.Saturday, March 16th, 2024, Vs. Utica Comets (4-2 L): Brett Berard got the Wolf Pack on the board 6:57 into the hockey game, deflecting an Alex Belzile shot by Akira Schmid on the powerplay to give the Wolf Pack a 1-0 lead.The Comets scored the game's next three goals, however, taking a lead they would never lose. Trailing 3-1 early in the second period, the Wolf Pack dug deep and stormed back to knock off the Bears 5-3 in the first meeting since last May's playoff series.Brett Berard broke a 3-3 tie just 23 seconds into the third period, firing home his tenth goal of the season to give the Wolf Pack the lead for good. Alex Belzile forced a turnover inside the offensive blue line, then flung the puck toward the net. CALDER CUP CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE

By: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings The Coachella Valley Firebirds knocked off the Milwaukee Admirals 4-3 and earned a trip to the Calder Cup Championship series against the Hershey Bears. The game was played before over 10,000 fans at a sold-out Acrisure Arena in their maiden season Western Conference championship game. The Calder Cup started Thursday in a 2-3-2 format. The first two games were held out West. The Firebirds posted back-to-back shutouts (4-0 Saturday and 5-0 Thursday) in the first two games for the first time in the Calder Cup in 84 years. The last time that occurred was in 1939. The Firebirds have started both games by outhitting the Bears all over the ice. Ryker Evans had a goal and an assist, while goaltender Joey Daccord tied J.F. Labbe’s record of two shutouts in the finals that was set 23 years ago by the Wolf Pack. Both players are making cases for themselves for the Butterfield Playoff MVP award. The Coachella Valley assistant coach is ex-Pack Stu Bickel, who gets to the Calder Cup Final for a second straight year. Last year he was on the bench with Springfield. The Firebirds are seeking to become only the second AHL expansion team, and third overall, to win be crowned Champion since the Texas Stars in 2013. The first was the former Maine Mariners (nee Portland Pirates 1977-2016) winning the first of their consecutive titles when they entered the AHL in 1977. They beat New Haven in both years. HARTFORD WOLF PACK FALL 2-1 TO HERSHEY BEARS

By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HERSHEY, PA – The Hartford Wolf Pack peppered Hershey Bears netminder Hunter Shepard on Saturday night, firing 34 shots on the goaltender and clipping the goalpost three times. Will Cuylle did beat Shepard in the middle stanza, but the goaltender's terrific effort would be enough to cement a 2-1 decision for the Bears in the sixth and final meeting between the foes this season. A loose puck at the blue line got away from the Wolf Pack on their first powerplay of the night, creating a footrace through the neutral zone between Matthew Robertson and Henrik Rybinski. Rybinski won the footrace, then entered the Wolf Pack zone on a breakaway. He snapped a shot by Dylan Garand for his third goal of the season 15:08 into the tilt, ballooning the Hershey lead to 2-0. The goal was the third shorthanded marker of the season for the Bears and proved to be the game-winner. The Wolf Pack started the second half of their weekend back-to-back quite strong, firing the first seven shots on goal and hitting a goal post. After that, however, the Bears settled things down and broke the ice off a scramble out in front. Mike Vecchione sent a pass to the front of the Wolf Pack net, which popped to Mike Sgarbossa. Sgarbossa fired a shot into traffic the Garand never saw, giving the Bears a lead 12:13 into the game. With Lucas Johansen in the penalty box for holding, the puck popped into the neutral zone and set up Rybinski for his breakaway goal. After an intense stretch of play in the second period, Hartford finally got on the board. Tanner Fritz fed Cuylle at the bottom of the right-wing faceoff circle, where the rookie quickly collected the puck and fired it toward Shepard. The puck snuck through the arm and torso of Shepard, giving Cuylle his team-leading 15th marker of the season. Fritz's assist was his team-leading 22nd and tied him with Turner Elson for the team lead in points with 26 on the season. The Wolf Pack continued to pressure in the game's final stretch but couldn't solve Shepard. Late in the game, off a turnover, Tim Gettinger was set up in tight, but his shot rang the iron. In the final minute, Gabriel Carlsson was whistled for tripping, giving Hartford a six-on-four advantage. The Wolf Pack hit a third post in the last ten seconds, then had a scramble out in front that Shepard fought off, preserving the two points for the home side.
