My partner traded our dumbbells to a friend for some stuff. Cool to not have to move them and the place we're going has a gym, but he wasn't supposed to take them until tomorrow. Shit happened and he took them on Monday, so I've been without my dumbbells this week.
Initial feeling was fear. Tracking my workouts on Hevy, I like seeing the volume progress. Body weight stuff, cardio, and most resistance band exercises don't track volume in the app.
But after being grumpy and anxious for a minute, I decided that what gets tracked on my app, while nice to see numerical representations of progress, isn't nearly as important as what I actually do. I did my resistance band stuff, I'll do some cardio before we finish packing, and I'll get some good non-exercise movement in packing. It's fine.
I had to get more creative with the resistance bands, because I didn't want to just do my glute-focused typical stuff with them. And it ended up being a great opportunity to explore how other exercises feel with the bands I have. I can tell the "48lb" heavy band in the set doesn't feel quite as hard as 2 x 20lb dumbbells, and that could be a factor of band quality, my form, or resistance band work in general. But I turned an unpleasant twist into a good week and maintained my 17-week streak, even if there is no volume logged.
Humpday has offically been delt with! ✅😎
So my fitness app does its own version of wrapped 😅😅😅😅
add me on Hevy @bardbell
Im really diggin the Hevy app so far. Easy to use and understand, it’s fun to build and name your own workouts or save and do ones from others. The social element is a nice touch and I like that you can only post updates and photos when you log a workout. Seems silly but it totally helps hold me accountable.
No just posting photos or memes for the sake of posting you gotta work first!
If you’re using Hevy follow me there….if you’re looking for a free app to start to log and track workouts give it a try. There is a subscription option to unlock more features but it’s fully usable without.
Almost let today slip by without a workout but got in a fun chest session with my new cables.
Another solid 45 minute effort this evening with some fun new lifting variations I was previously unable to do with my old equipment.
