Missing my furry brother today on what would have been his 20th birthday 💔 I can remember the day he came home like it was was yesterday. We were all in the living room while this adorable puppy sat there and stared at his new humans, watching as they tried to give him a name. Obviously, my five year old self knew he bore a striking resemblance to the main character of my favorite movies. And thus, the new pup was named Marty, after Marty McFly. The personality in this animal was incredible. He sang with us, told us he loved us (yes my grandma taught him to talk), brought us letters back and forth, walked to the mailbox daily with grandma and Zoe (our cat), told us when he wanted to go outside, told us when he needed to pee or poop, comforted, played, wrestled and cuddled with us.. he even learned to bring my dad beer from the fridge. He was amazing. So smart. So full of love. Pets aren't just animals living in our homes, they are our family. I am so lucky to have grown up with animals. The love you learn from them is like no other. Happy Birthday, Marty. I miss you.
