God is an author
God is an author. Life is his book. We are his characters. I realized this as I was writing a novel of my own. I made characters myself, spent lots of time planning out their role in the story and who they were personality wise. Their strengths, their weaknesses, their friends, their talents, everything. A lot of time goes into the development of a character. And they all play some sort of role in the story. You know them better than anyone else, and even though you portray them a certain way in a book, nobody will know them the same way you do. I even go as far as to calling characters my "children" sometimes. You put pieces of your own personality into a character, (whether you mean to or not) and over time, you begin to love your characters, because you know them, you see yourself in them, they are your work of art. When God creates us, we know that he does so with purpose. He has our lives planned out. He knows who we will meet, what we will do, when we live, and when we die. Is this not like that of an author? He gives us our bodies, knows our names before they are given to us, knows what we will look like, because he was the one who drew our designs. We know that "God created man in his own image". God gives us gifts, talents. Maybe these are bits of him that he put into us. We all have the Holy Spirit within us when we accept him as our God and leader, perhaps this is the piece that we have that is similar to God himself. Jesus says we can call God "Abba" or father. An author's characters could be like their children, characters are an author's creation, and author's are often affectionate towards their characters. God is more than affectionate towards his "characters". He loves us deeply, has our lives planned out for a reason. He created each and every one of us for a certain purpose that only we could fulfill. He knows our talents, our flaws, our friends, family, our daily schedule, every little detail not known by anyone else. He knows things that even we don't know about ourselves. He designed us each differently, but all with pieces of him. We are God's work of art. And unlike that of the author of your favorite book, he breathed life into his characters, us. God is an author. Life is his book. We are his characters. You may not know where you are in life now, or what your purpose in the story is. But don't worry about it. God is the best author of all, and the book of life is already written. He cares about you, and will make sure that you will have a happy ending if you choose to go with his storyline.
