Erika "Tunneling" from Hexagon Cloud - electro mysterioso
While "Hexagon Cloud" may be Erika's debut solo release, this is by no means her introduction to the scene. For years Erika has been a member of Ectomorph and co-conspirator of Interdimensional Transmissions, but since these projects play shadowy games with identity and perception, she may just need that introduction. Her focus in Ectomorph was live analog synthesis and fluid improvisational interactions with Ectomorph & IT founder BMG. As Ectomorph evolved beyond the boundaries of the sullied word "Electro", Erika continued to work with BMG on his other projects, including keyboard work on the "Credit Card" single with Sal Principato. Through years of touring and throwing some of Detroit's finest underground parties, Erika grew and took shape as vinyl DJ and analog composer of her own right. Composing without the aid of a computer, Erika's system is centered around a rare highly flexible hardware sequencer. The ideas flowed quickly, and what began as an EP quickly blossomed into a double album with the aid of production from BMG. Science and music, dreams of space and microscopic organisms, mutation of plant life and the birth of stars, all come together effortlessly in her work to sound like post acid techno subterranean spelunking in a quest to return to the stars. Or at least to the northern "Hexagon Cloud" of Saturn.

Erika - Hexagon Cloud RMXD
Normally the remix album or EP comes after the main event but I'm guessing Mihigan based producer Erika is not like other girls. All week I have been enjoying the three track 'Hexagon Cloud RMXD' EP on Spotify but when I went to find 'Hexagon Cloud' itself it I discover it is not going to be released until the 3rd of June on the Interdimensional Transmissions label.
While 'Hexagon Cloud' will be her first solo release for years Erika has been a member of Ectomorph and co-conspirator of Interdimensional Transmissions. Although the music sounds like it was composed on a computer, all Erika's music is actually composed on synths and a rare, highly flexible, hardware sequencer.
The fantastic remixes on RMXD are by Marcellus Pittman, a leader of Detroit House; Orphx aka Christina Sealey and Richard Oddie, Canadian electronic music duo who have been producing a fusion of techno, industrial, and electro-acoustic music sinc the mid 90s; and BMG aka Brendan M Gillen, a founding member of Ectomorph and Interdimensional Transmissions who also produced the Hexagon Cloud album, which I am now really excited to hear.

"Hexagon Cloud RMXD" celebrates the diverse influences of Erika's solo release "Hexagon Cloud" on Interdimensional Transmissions.
Marcellus Pittman is one of the deepest and most twisted artists that you could call a leader of Detroit House. His deft weaving of genres and influences and impeccable taste help his DJ sets transcend any boundaries, coming as pure party music backed with heavy thoughts. We first came to hear his music through the 3 Chairs and Rotating Assembly projects working with legends like Theo Parrish and Moodymann, but he broke out with a series of 12"es on his own label Unirhythm (recently collected on the album Pieces) that announced his unique vision, and he has been one of Detroit's deeper international representatives on the decks. He remixed the hypnotic "Tow Ride" from Erika's debut Solo album with a stated goal of making it darker and "more evil".
Orphx are Christina Sealey and Richard Oddie, Canadian electronic music duo now residing in Ontario. Since the mid-1990s, Oddie and Sealey have been creating unique fusion of techno, industrial, and electro-acoustic music. Orphx has gained an international following as one of the pioneering acts within the European “rhythmic noise” scene. They have performed in numerous countries around the world, appearing alongside artists such as Alva Noto, Laurie Anderson, Monolake, Pan Sonic and many others. Orphx has released nine full length albums and numerous singles (CD, vinyl and cassette) on such respectable labels as Hands Productions, Sonic Groove, Hymen and others. Their most recent work further develops a dark hybrid of techno, dub and industrial that has garnered critical acclaim from many leading DJs of techno. Their remix of Erika's "North Hex" is immense, featuring Richard's impeccable production and Christina's mythic modular.
BMG aka Brendan M Gillen is a founding member of Ectomorph and Interdimensional Transmissions. He has performed with Erika in numerous countries for over 15 years, and produced her solo LP. He shares his vision of her sound with this special mix / edit of the first in a series of songs that became her solo debut, the "Hexagon Cloud" 2xLP. This song debuted in another configuration on a digital only compilation on Paxahau's D-Records label for last year's Movement festival, debuting on vinyl here.
