A/N: Hello lovely readers! I know I have been MIA for a while now and this series has been on hold for a long time now, but I plan on resuming updating the series that I've got on hold, starting with this series. I'm so sorry for not updating this sooner, but I'll try my best to work on it. (Also, I have to beat my self mentally for a long time to get inspiration for writing again, so sorry about that!)

Steve sat at Eva’s bedside, his eyes watching her breathing slowly return to a peaceful rhythm. The nightmares had subsided, thanks to Wanda, and for the first time since she woke, Eva was resting without tension lining her face. Steve’s hand was still clasped gently in hers, and though she was asleep, her fingers curled protectively around his. His heart felt a pull—a mix of relief and something deeper he couldn't quite place.
Meanwhile, Tony stood outside the medical room, pacing in frustration. He couldn't shake the image of Eva’s nightmare, her cries of "Papa" still echoing in his head. He felt utterly helpless, something he hadn’t felt in years. Watching Steve's closeness with Eva only made it worse. Tony had spent years believing his daughter was gone, and now that she was back, she seemed closer to Steve than to him. His mind buzzed with questions—What if he had lost the chance to be the father she needed? What if Steve, with his perfect, noble charm, was becoming the one she depended on?
Natasha approached Tony with a look of sympathy, though her words were blunt as ever. "You're pushing too hard, Tony. You can't expect her to be comfortable with everything right away. Give her time."
Tony clenched his fists. "She’s my daughter, Nat. I don’t want to sit on the sidelines while Captain Perfect waltzes in and… I don’t know, becomes her hero."
Natasha raised an eyebrow. "You might be projecting, Tony. It’s not a competition."
Inside the medical room, Eva stirred awake. Her eyes fluttered open, hazel orbs meeting Steve’s warm blue gaze. She felt the comfort of his hand in hers and didn’t want to let go. Steve smiled at her, softly.
"How are you feeling?" he asked in that gentle tone she had grown to trust.
Eva gave a small nod, her voice hoarse. "Better... Thanks to you."
Steve shifted slightly in his seat, feeling a strange warmth at her gratitude. He couldn’t deny how protective he felt of her—not just as the man who rescued her, but something more. Her vulnerability called to something deeper inside him.
“I’m just glad you’re safe now,” he replied.
Eva smiled at him and Steve swore he felt something tug at his heart. He was not sure what exactly he was feeling, but he decided that he liked it. And he more than liked seeing Eva smile. Seeing her smile, a genuine smile spread across his face.
Eva's smile slowly shifted to that of wariness when the memories of what happened before she fainted, resurfaced. Her shaky fingers twiddled with each other while she gulped.
Steve noticed the subtle change in Eva’s expression, the wariness that replaced her brief smile. He frowned slightly, his grip on her hand loosening but still gentle.
“What’s wrong?” he asked softly, his blue eyes searching hers for any hint of what had suddenly shifted in her mood.
Eva lowered her gaze, her fingers nervously twiddling with each other. “I… I remember my father being here before I fainted,” she whispered, her voice shaky.
"Can I please see him?" she requested, her voice getting shaky with all the emotions that she was feeling and Steve could only smile in response.

A very apprehensive Tony Stark was seen walking in the medical wing, towards the room where his daughter was getting treated. As he neared the room, he can see Pepper, Rhodey and Happy waiting just outside the room.
Pepper and Happy gave him an encouraging smile whereas Rhodey gave him a Don't fuck this up! look.
Rubbing his clammy hands against his pants, Tony slowly entered the room and his eyes immediately landed on Eva.
Eva, who was slowly talking to Steve and Wanda, paused and turned her head towards the entrance to find her father standing there, looking quite awkward.
Eva's heart skipped a beat when her eyes met Tony's. The awkwardness radiating from her father was palpable, and she could feel her own nerves tightening in response. The room, which had been filled with soft conversation between her, Steve, and Wanda, now seemed to grow tense with unspoken emotions.
For a moment, neither of them said a word. Tony stood there, hands at his sides, his usual bravado nowhere to be found. His eyes flicked nervously between Steve, Wanda, and his daughter, unsure how to start.
"Hey kiddo," Tony finally said, his voice unusually soft, almost tentative.
Steve had to double check if it was indeed Tony Stark himself who was standing there, sans the unwanted sarcasm and unappreciated humor.
Eva swallowed, her fingers gripping the blanket that covered her. She had been rehearsing this moment in her head, but now that it was happening, she found herself at a loss for words. Her father, the man she had always idolized, all her life, looked so… uncertain.
"Papa," she whispered, the word carrying years of lost time and buried feelings. Her eyes immediately pooled with unshed tears.
Tony’s heart clenched at the sound of that word. It had been so long since she had called him that. For a moment, he just stood there, taking in the sight of her, sitting up and looking better than she had in days. He wanted to rush forward, hug her, hold her, but something about the tension in her posture made him pause.
"You're not gonna faint on me again, are you?" gulping the knot in his throat, Tony tried to joke, but everyone there knew that he really meant what he said.
Eva tried her best to not cry, while shaking her head slowly.
"Can I—" Tony cleared his throat, trying to find his voice again. "Can I sit with you?"
Eva glanced briefly at Steve, as if searching for some reassurance. Steve gave her a small, encouraging nod before rising from his seat next to her.
“I’ll give you both some time,” he said softly.
Wanda, sensing the need for space, also stood and gave Eva’s hand a quick squeeze before leaving the room with Steve.
Now, it was just her and Tony.
The silence stretched for a few beats longer than was comfortable, but Tony slowly made his way to the chair Steve had vacated. He sat down, looking at Eva with eyes that held so much emotion—guilt, worry, love—all things he had a hard time expressing.
"I’m glad you’re awake," Tony said quietly, his voice tight with emotion. "You gave us quite a scare."
Eva nodded, her gaze flickering down to her lap. “I didn’t mean to… I didn’t know it would be this hard,” she murmured. "Being back, seeing you again."
Tony’s heart ached at her words. He reached out slowly, tentatively placing a hand over hers. It was the first real touch they'd shared since she returned, and the warmth of it sent a shock through both of them.
"I know, kid," Tony said, his voice thick with regret. "I don’t know what you’ve been through, and I won’t pretend to understand how you’re feeling right now. But I want to… if you’ll let me. I want to be here for you."
Eva smiled at him gratefully. Despite of everything that has happened, Eva knew that she could always rely on Tony, but things aren't the same anymore. A lot has changed over the years.
But as she looked into his eyes, that familiar warmth began to dissolve the walls she had built up, and the memories of the last few years flooded back. She wanted to be open with him, to let him in, but fear still clung to her like a shadow.
“Things feel different now,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m… not the same person I was before.”
Tony leaned closer, his expression earnest. “Neither am I, Bubba. We both have a lot to figure out. But I’m here. We can navigate this together.”
Eva felt a swell of emotion at his words. It felt like a lifeline, something she desperately needed in that moment. Yet, doubt crept in. “What if you don’t like who I’ve become?” she asked, her voice trembling. “What if I’m not the daughter you remember?”
“Hey,” Tony said firmly, lifting her chin gently with his fingers so she had to meet his gaze. “You’re my daughter. I love you, no matter what. That doesn’t change. You are still you, and that’s what matters most.”
Tears welled in Eva’s eyes, and she fought to keep them at bay, but they slipped down her cheeks anyway.
Instinctively, like he always did years before, Tony immediately wrapped his arms around shoulders and hugged her as the girl broke down.
"Sh... Everything's going to be okay now. You're going to be safe. I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that alone, but I promise you, I'll not let anything bad ever happen to you again, bubba," Tony reassured her.
A few minutes later, Eva calmed down a bit.
“I’ve missed you so much, Papa,” she confessed, her voice breaking. “I thought I lost you forever. I thought you had forgotten about me.”
Tony shook his head vehemently, his own eyes glistening with unshed tears. “Never. Not a single day went by without me thinking about you."
Tony slowly broke their hug and cupped her face, looking at her reassuringly.
"Papa can never forget his bubba. I'll never let anything happen to you again, okay? It is Papa and Bubba against the world, remember?"
Eva smiled at that and nodded, glad to have her father back.
I have a HC about older bending brothers !!! Bolin will eventually join the army again, the united forces, and climbs up the ranks there while Mako stays in RC as an officer and climbs up the ranks in RCPD. At one point, they are captains in their own work field. So when Bo are in RC or they are meeting up; Bo greets him (kind of jokingly) with a 'Hey captain' and does a mock salute and Mako smiles and ruffles his hair (despite bo's weak protests) and gives him a 'hey captain' back. I am in love
This is a beautiful headcanon. I love it. It’s like Toph and Lin’s “Hey Chief.” Excellent! Cheers!

When Tony heard that his daughter had finally woke up, he immediately rushed into the medical. By that time, things have already settled down considerably well with Steve being as the girl’s comfort and Bruce being considerably calmer.
With that, he started asking her a few basic questions, just to assess if there’s anything wrong with her to begin with.
“Okay, miss. I’m the doctor in charge of your case and since you’ve woken, we just want to ask you a couple of questions to see if there’s anything wrong with you that we might have missed while treating you” said Bruce.
The woman slightly moved back against the bed she was on and Steve resumed the gentle grip of his on her hand, encouraging her to talk with a gentle smile. Tony’s brows furrowed seeing her and Steve together, not liking his daughter getting comfort from another man rather than from her father. He was about to walk into the room to protest, but stopped when Nat stopped him.
“Tony, don’t” she said, making the brunette man look at her with furrowed eyebrows.
Tony was about to open his mouth, but Nat beat him to it “Bruce is trying to check if there’s any sort of undiagnosed issues with her. Don’t start now. Just wait until he’s done.”
Reluctantly, Tony agreed, nodding his head and kept watching.
“Is that okay with you, miss?” asked Bruce and the woman nodded slowly, gulping down.
Bruce gave her a tight smile in response and asked her “What’s your name?”
“Eva” she croaked out and cleared her throat.
“What’s your full name?”
“Evangeline Reina Stark.”
“How old are you?”
“21.”
Bruce nodded and flashed a light in her eyes, checking is there were any signs of trauma and nodded to himself.
He then stood up and said “Thank you for answering” and left after giving her an awkward smile.
As soon as he was out of the room, Tony caught onto him and started asking question after question about Eva and Bruce politely told him that he can go and meet her, but also warned him to not overwhelm her, just to be on the safer side. Tony grinned like a happy child and literally ran towards the room, but stopped himself and walked into the room. Eva who was listening to Steve trying to make small talk suddenly glanced at the door and froze, seeing her father there.
“Papa” whispered Eva softly, her eyes showcasing various emotions.
Tony immediately became tearful, but tried to contain his tears. No sooner has stepped towards her, Eva’s eyes rolled back and fainted, falling against the pillow at her back, alarming not only Steve and Tony, but also the nurse who immediately rushed to call for Bruce.

To say that Tony Stark was pissed off at the world will be the understatement of the century. First of all, the whole medic team was hell bent on keeping him away from his own daughter, citing that he had overwhelmed her with his mere presence. Secondly, his red-head colleague along with his girlfriend Pepper and bestfriend Rhody and his other bestfriend and bodyguard Happy were being a pain in his behind by not even allowing him to leave the room he was currently in, stating that they know that he will try to go see his daughter. Thirdly, but most importantly, he was pissed off at his human sized golden retriever of a colleague who has been hogging up all of his daughter’s attention when she’s awake and when she’s asleep, and he didn’t like that one bit. Why was Popsicle being so nice to his daughter? Was it just because he’s a nice human and was trying to be empathetic to his daughter? Or was it because the blue-eyed lab experiment is trying to be close to her due to whatever bond or attraction that he’s got going with her?
Tony tried and tried and tried so hard to convince himself that it was because of the first reason but then decided that the second reason sounded more apt and he didn’t like that. So, for the rest of the day, he sat on the couch with an evident pout, groveling, refusing to even acknowledge anyone, like a petulant child.

A group of masked men have brought a crying girl into the warehouse and took her to a cell, while the girl kept kicking and screaming. She was barely 11 and was absolutely petrified. Where was she? Why are these strange masked men taking her with them? Where are they taking her? Where’s Papa? Papa!
“Papa!” the girl kept screaming and crying, trying to wiggle out of the man’s hold.
The men became irritated with her screams and dropped her to the floor, making her land on the ground painfully. Whimpering, the girl stood up and was about to dash towards the only exit, but one of the men blocked it, making the girl look up at them with tears. He immediately slapped her, whipping her head to the side and knocking the girl off balance, making her fall on her side. A pained whimper left her lips and so did a trickle of blood.
“What an annoying piece of shit” one of the men grunted and they all left the cell, locking the exit behind them as they left, while the girl kept crying, saying only one thing - Papa. Her cries soon turned to hiccups before the girl passed out.
“Tony, what are you - ?!” someone screeched, but Bruce raised a hand, indicating them to stay quiet while Tony looked distraught.
The simulation slowly disappeared and pained whimpers left an unconscious Eva’s lips.
“Tony, this a clear invasion of privacy-” said Nat but stopped herself as Tony collapsed on the ground, his eyes pooling with unshed tears.
He was not prepared for what he saw - his daughter’s nightmare. A memory that she hoped was a nightmare but was the reality of her life for more than a decade. Wanda who came with Nat looked at Bruce who was having an argument with Nat outside after the latter dragged the man outside to talk with him. The spy clearly didn’t like Bruce going behind their backs and giving Tony permission to see what was his daughter crying about in her sleep.
Wanda then looked back at Tony, who was clearly in agony. She slowly approached him and knelt down beside him. For some reason, she felt for the Stark girl and for the man too. Slowly, she placed her hand on top of his, making him look at her, tearfully.
“I - I can make the nightmare go away” said Wanda, hesitantly, not sure how Tony would take it.
Tony furrowed his eyebrows and gulped down on the knot lodged in his throat.
“Can you do that?” he croaked out.
Wanda nodded in response.
“Please, make it stop then. I want her to sleep peacefully” said Tony with a tear escaping his eye.
Wanda slowly stood up and approached Eva who was still unconscious, but still whimpering out only one thing - Papa.
Wanda smiled as she slowly caressed Eva’s head and while her other hand hovered above Eva’s head, a red glow slowly transferred from her fingers to Eva’s head and slowly, the girl’s whimpers stopped. Slowly, a small smile formed on Eva’s face and Wanda smiled, retrieving her fingers.
“You have a beautiful smile Evangeline. Sweet dreams” said Wanda, kissing Eva’s forehead affectionately and walked towards Tony who stood up by then and took him out of the room with her.

With Tony’s insistence, the woman that he claimed as his daughter was taken to the Stark tower rather than where the remaining hostages were taken, but she was under constant surveillance. To say that Nick Fury was not impressed with how Tony’s behaving will be the understatement of the year. The rest of the avengers, except for Natasha Romanoff were surprised learning that Tony Stark has a daughter, let alone under Hydra’s captivation.
As soon as the news reached Pepper and Happy, the two of them reached the tower and both became teary when they saw the unconscious girl getting wheeled inside, into the medical wing. It has been a decade or more since they saw her and this was a welcomed shock.
As soon as she was admitted into the medical wing, Dr. Banner started running all the required tests, including a DNA test upon Fury’s persistence which proved Tony’s claims as true and he started calling the shots.
Fury had enough of it and said “Stark, she might be your daughter, but at the end of the day, she was Hydra’s hostage and let me take care of the formalities first. You can have your daughter then.”
“Take care of what formalities?” asked Tony
“The same old interrogation” replied Fury.
Tony gritted his teeth “She’s not even awake and we don’t even know what she went through and you want to interrogate her? Are you shitting me?!”
Fury stood on what he said.
“None of us know what she went through and from results of the tests that Bruce ran clearly states that she might not be in a right state of mind to answer your questions. Unless I don’t feel like she’s in a safe head space, you cannot even go near her” said Tony.
“You have no right to-” Fury started, but got cut off by Tony “Of course, I have the right! I’m her father!”
Just the Agent Hill walked over there and suggested to Fury that they have to go along what Stark said and Fury left briskly.

The woman that Steve saved who turned out Tony’s daughter was out for three days, lying unconscious on the bed from the injuries she has sustained. Bruce has added that there’s a possibility of her suffering from emotional trauma too. Other than Tony, it was Steve who visited her the most, maybe because he was the one who saved her or maybe because it was in his arms where she passed out.
When she finally woke up, she was in a very unfamiliar surroundings. Everything was stark white and smelled of antiseptic. Her heart immediately started thudding in panic and her eyes widened, her hazel orbs much clearer. Out of habit, her thumb grazed her index finger and missed the coldness of the metal surrounding it. She looked down and saw the ring that she wears on her index finger was missing.
Just then a nurse walked in and smiled looking at her.
“Hello, you finally woke up. Let me inform Dr. Banner” said the nurse, but the girls couldn’t hear anything.
She could see that the woman was saying something but all she could hear was white noise. The unfamiliar face and surroundings added to her panic and she swiftly ripped the IV attached to her head, sending her blood spraying out a bit and tumbled down the bed she was on, despite the nurse’s protests.
Bruce walked into the room and saw the Stark girl trying to scramble away from him and the nurse, but her body was not cooperating with her. She was exerting herself and making things bad for herself. Bruce tried to help, but he was getting twitchy, which was not good as that was the sign of the big man showing up.
That was the scene that Steve Rogers walked into and his eyes widened seeing the girl on the floor, looking like a scared puppy. He could clearly spot the signs of the incoming panic attack in her, something that he went through a lot when he came out of the ice and something that he noticed that his best friend Bucky go through when he was undergoing the winter soldier detox program.
Steve slowly approached her, dropping his shoulders to make his imposing figure look as small as possible and knelt down in front of her.
“Hi sweetheart, do you remember me?” he asked softly, but she looked at him with wide eyes, her breathing was irregular.
He gently touched her cheek and caressed it, making her focus on him. Hazel orbs looking at his baby blue ones.
“Do you remember me, sweetheart? I’m Steve. We met at that factory? You asked me to get you out of there” he said softly.
She slowly nodded her head. Steve smiled seeing her responding.
“Okay, don’t panic. This man and women are just trying to help you. You’re injured and they’re trying to heal you, okay? Don’t panic. Just take deep breaths” he said and started mimicking his actions urging her to do the same and she did just that.
After seeing that she’s not going into a panic attack, he told her that they’re only trying to help her and gently scooped her into his arms and stood up. He gently placed her back on the bed and was about to move away when she weakly grabbed his arm, not wanting to see the only familiar presence there to go away from her. He quickly grabbed a nearby stool and sat beside the bed with her hand in his while Dr. Banner and the nurse fixed the small injuries that her stunt might have caused and assed if she might have worsened her previous injuries.
Steve was there with her all the while until she passed out of exhaustion and weakness, but kept his hand in a tight hold in her hand, her fingers curling around his.
