Lecture 13: “Foxy Lady” (1967) - The Jimi Hendrix Experience (promotional film 1967): Jimi Hendrix, the vocalist and guitar deity, was born in Seattle, Washington, on November 27, 1942, to an Army man stationed in Alabama at the time. By the time he played Woodstock in August 1969, he was already a star. He would die just over a year later, at the age of 27, a result of asphyxiation. Who knows what would have happened had Hendrix lived on? He mastered the guitar to such an extent that many rock aficionados and music critics consider him to be the greatest guitarist in the history of rock (indeed, Rolling Stone magazine has repeatedly judged him as such). Hendrix himself, like Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison, lived a life of excess, but left behind a rich legacy of guitar musicianship and singing. This is one of his biggest hits, “Foxy Lady” (1967), made into a promotional film the year of its release.
