...why does our lv increase every time we seal a dark fountain?
hey hospital worker here! we are overwhelmed and the system is NOT helping us. instead of paying their experienced staff more, they're hiring travel nurses to patch the holes, which leaves even more gaps in staffing when they leave. most of our good nurses have quit to go travel and make like 3x what they had. burnout has taken the joy out of the job and patients just keep getting sicker. admin has changed policies countless times and we can't keep up. covid sucks!!! (answer priv if you want!)
yeah i've definitely heard about the issue with hospitals hiring travel nurses instead of paying their own staff more. i personally know several people who quit their staffed job in order to become travel nurses simply because they weren't making ends meet at their old job, despite the huge amount of pressure that comes with it (even in non-covid times, nursing is no joke).
i think the post i reblogged that you might be referencing was specifically speaking about certain hospitals, where they fired like half their staff for being unvaccinated and then turned around to complain about staff shortage. some hospitals are even pressuring vaccinated nurses who actively have covid into working (due to the shortage), rather than retain employment of their unvaccinated nurses. the counter-intuitiveness and irony of such situations is what makes it hard for people to believe the extent of the overwhelm isn't at least partially self-inflicted in some areas.
covid does indeed suck. several of my siblings and in-laws work in the medical field (doctors, RNs, PAs, etc) so i definitely understand the struggle that goes on behind hospital doors.
