Kurt isn’t all that much of a given. Did you notice that he didn’t get to reference his feelings or his relationship with Blaine at all in Makeover? And only gets to sing a few lines in The Breakup.
This could be a long response. Okay, my beloved Kurtsie follower, these are my thoughts:
1. On not referencing his feelings about his success - Kurt, to me, is a very internal character. He does not easily express feelings but expresses a lot through actions and expressions. For example, you could see how incredibly touched and happy he was to be complimented by Isabelle and be encouraged to pursue fashion. (I LOVE that relationship potential BTW)
With him, I look for screentime, story development, relationship development.
2. On not referencing feelings or relationship with Blaine - THAT, I am certain, was on purpose. Kurt is absolutely self absorbed at the moment. He was not a good partner in this episode (and that's fine and real, and I love him flawed. But he wasn't there for Blaine and that's life). He wasn't thinking about Blaine very much at all...he was thinking about his amazing deserved success and his exciting new life in NY. Fair enough.
3. On singing - I would LOVE for Chris to sing more. I thought he was outstanding in both the Scientist and Don't Speak.
For whatever reason, Glee has not given him his due on pop songs in particular. While I would like more feelings songs for him (he usually gets two or three EPIC solos a season, with a bunch of more fun ones like Never Fully Dressed - and he does get pretty much equal music time to most of the cast BTW. Someone did a survey at the end of last year, and Chris was firmly in the middle. Only Darren, Lea, and Naya really got a lot more than others), he doesn't in this ep. Some are speculating he has a solo in 5 (I have no idea, he recorded recently though).
But either way, I think we will very much see Kurt's feelings in this episode. I wouldn't take the singing as an indication. I expect him to give me all the feels.
