I know, I know, I’m almost a week late! But in my defense I was on vacation, enjoying the hell-like summer here in Brazil, but nevertheless, here are the 2018 calendar, made by yours truly and absolutely free <3
When I shared my first printable here on tumblr I never thought they would get so many notes and never ever ever thought I would help so many people! I’m so grateful and proud of that, the studyblr community helped me improve SO MOUCH as a person, the least I could do is give something back.
This year I decided to do something a bit more minimalist, grey/white, so i matches the color scheme of you bedroom, notebook, stationery, etc, but decided to add a bit of fun to it with some handmade graphics and, as always, motivational/insipiration quotes from some of my favorite books/movies/shows. They are A4, but could be print in A5 or A3 paper too (although A3 the resolution wouldn’t be the best, it wouldn’t suck either)
I hope you guys have a WONDERFUL 2018, full of accomplishments and happiness!
AAAAAYYYYYYY FAM! It’s been too long but here it isssss my first printable of 2017! So these past few months have been really weird for me, I’ve graduated from uni and I currently don’t have a job so I have no routine, I go to sleep at 3 am and wake up past noon, my life is a mess and the struggle is REAL.
But enough about me and my shitty life, let’s talk about this awesome piece of paper here made by yours truly! It’s a book summary thing-y where you can write down all those teeny tiny forgetable details, cause let’s be honest, you gotta a lot on your mind don’t you? Don’t worry, Mari gotchu covered.
This printable includes:
• Book name and author (in case you’re reading more than one at a time)
• A brief summary: write down the main story and plot line
• Character index: list their names, role in the story and personality as well as physical characteristics
•Symbolism chart: so...blue curtains in a room mean character “x” depression and inner demons? draw it and write this down!
•Important notes: for important notes... duh...
As always, this is an A4 sheet and you can DOWNLOAD IT HERE!
If there’s any trouble with the links just message me and I’ll fix it asap
Hey guys! It’s Yun and it’s my first time writing this sort of thing and gosh am I nervous!! The background of this post is basically, I’m going back to school on Monday and it was originally supposed to be a post for Singaporean polytechnic students but I procrastinated and thus, made it more general!
But firstly, a message to any polytechnic students. POLY IS NOT EASIER THAN JC!! That is a really dumb rumour that I've heard since I was in secondary school. Poly is difficult af!!!!! Okay, onwards to the tips!
1. If your teachers/lecturers/professors allow snacks in class, bring some to class!!!
Sometimes, I get a little peckish before break time so I always keep a granola bar in my bag just in case!! Also, I feel that if I’m getting sleepy in class, a bite or two of something really helps me to concentrate on the lesson! I normally just have granola bars or sweets/chocolates in my bag, but if you want to prepare something for yourself, check out @studiyng‘s post here!
2. You most probably have a lot of freedom in school and you maybe tempted to pop onto tumblr or whatever social media platform during class, but resist that urge!!
Before I joined the studyblr community, I was totally a ~*rebellious student*~ and I didn’t pay a lot of attention in class and just used social media. That hindered my attention and I sometimes just didn’t follow the lesson. Thus, learn from me and DON’T DO IT!! If you feel like you don’t have enough self-control (like me, ahem), you can use this extension StayFocusd! It basically blocks the websites that you put on your blacklisted sites! I recommend what they call the ‘The Nuclear Option’, just set the amount of time you want to blacklist the sites and boom, you won’t be able to access them until the time’s up!
3. If you’re classroom is air-conditioned, bring a sweater/jacket/cardigan/etc.
Classrooms can get really cold, and you don’t want to be shivering throughout the lesson, so just avoid that by bringing something to keep you warm!
4. Utilise apps to help you study!
There are quite a few productivity apps out there and they can definitely aid you in your studying journey! These are some of the ones I use!
myHomework - It’s an application that you can download as a Chrome extension or whatever devices they support. You can then download it on your mobile devices and sync everything! It helps me keep track of the work I need to do and what my timetable is! Something I don’t like about it is that you must have a wi-fi connection or mobile data on to use it :-( but other than that, it’s quite good!
Google Drive and Google Docs and whatever Google apps - If you aren’t using these apps, it’s a good time to start! It’s great to use as a collaborative tool for groupwork and just good to use as storage! You can write your notes on Google Docs if you want to since you can keep them in folders! Save space on your computer!
Any Pomodoro app that works the best for you! For a run-down on the pomodoro method, refer to @highschoolering‘s post here! I think her post explains it better than I ever can!
For other apps to aid you, check out @strive-for-da-best‘s post about free apps here! (p.s. this was actually the first studyblr post I’ve ever seen and it was long before I actually knew what studyblr was! :P)
5. My studying tips when you’re home!
Make sure to do your work as soon as they’re assigned instead of procrastinating and leaving it till the last minute. (Haha, I should probably practice what I preach~) This will help you produce more quality work, and you’ll be doing it over a stretch of time, unlike last minute work. You’ll be less stressed if you can finish your work earlier!
I study better with ambience/background sounds or music. I like Coffitivity which has options of different coffeeshop sounds! Here’s a music masterpost by @winterazalea and here’s one by @studylou where it features music found in games! I think I’ve ever read an article about how video game music might be the best music to study to but I can’t track it down so here’s a random article I found online lol! And here’s a Reddit thread!
Put your phone on airplane mode and not touch it when you’re studying!
Okay, so this list was brought to you by back-to-school jitters, procrastination and some planning! Hope some of these tips are able to help you! All the best to anyone starting school soon or if these tips are helping someone who’s currently in school!
So, I’m new to the studyblr community and I wanted to go ahead and make a quick post on organizing so I can get started with creating new content (even though I’m sure this has been done before)!
s t u d y s p a c e:
move any unneeded supplies and materials off to the side so you have room for what you actually need
if you need to use your computer, make sure you have a charger handy in case your battery starts to get low
get out any textbooks, notebooks, or handouts that you might need to use while you study
if you notice anything extra in your space that’s from last semester, or if just used scrap paper that you no longer need, TOSS IT! it’ll clean up your space a ton!
b a g s a n d b e l o n g i n g s:
take everything out and lay it out on the floor or a table so you can see what you’ve got
pull any crumpled sheets of paper out of the bottom of your bookbag and sort them into piles based on if you need them, can throw them away, or if you should file them
go through your pencil case and make sure you’re only keeping things that work! no need to keep dead pens around just for fun
if there are any extra notebooks or binders that you don’t really need, consider setting them aside and not carrying them with you so that your daily load isn’t as heavy!!
t o d o l i s t s:
before you start working, you might want to go ahead and make a list of anything that you aim to finish in your study session
you can use the bullet journal method (x), printables from other studyblrs (x), or any number of other methods depending on what works for you (x)
i thought the notes i prepared for my test yesterday were excellent so i scanned them in! ✨✨✨today marks the first month i created this studyblr, but i only started making content the next day, so i’m not sure when’s a good time to say “HAPPY ONE MONTH TO MY STUDYBLR!!”
happy valentine’s day to all my lovely friends!! sending you guys all my love!! 💖💖💖 here’s a simple little mindmap for an article that i have to complete, and i’m testing out the sharpie pen! it’s quite a nice pen, i approve but it was way too expensive haha!
