"I’ve never been good at this. I don’t do relationships. But I… I want to try with you.” (for cuties esmily)
Lily couldn’t help but laugh at Esme’s confession. She wasn’t making fun of her, but her words were silly. Despite their differences, they truly were the same on the inside. “Do you really think I do relationships either? You’re the first girl I’ve ever even considered liking—if liking somebody was optional, which I now realize just isn’t true.” She let out another laugh. “Esme, you’re the first person to make me question everything about myself—about my life, my future, my breakfast cereal choices. . .which is why I am even considering being somebody’s girlfriend right now.” The word rolled off Lily’s tongue as if she said something childish, but this was no child’s matter. What she felt for Esmeralda was different than anything she’d ever felt before. It was an emotion she couldn’t place because it was so new. If she were to trace back that feeling to the day she first felt it, it would lead her to the day she met Esme. “I think that if I decided I was ready to be somebody’s girlfriend, then it couldn’t be to anybody but you. So let's try together." Lily took a deep breath as if what she just said took a lot out of her, because it did. "And it really scares me that you haven’t interrupted me once yet, so before you do… ” she leaned in slowly, smiling the entire time, until her lips met with her girlfriend’s.
