Deleting a post I made while I was sleepy and annoyed by traffic

This is a good thing, surely. Isn’t leaving the ultimate goal of almost everyone trapped here? It’s certainly one of Rung’s goals, at least.

So he’s happy for Athena. Sincerely. He hopes and believes that she is back home among friends and family, happy and free.

He just wishes it hadn’t happened so abruptly.

“...Hornet?” She’s on the couch, but Rung doesn’t think she’s asleep. He approaches quietly anyway, his footfalls soft and hesitant.

“May I speak with you about something? I-- could use some advice.” And while she’s probably the least qualified person he can think of to offer it on this particular topic, she’s also the only person in Spirale that he trusts enough to be completely honest with.

“You may have noticed that Athena’s gone. I haven’t figured out how or why, but people sometimes just... disappear. I think they go back home. It’s something to research more fully in the future, but more immediately, it means that there’s no one around to run the clinic.”

“I was thinking about using this as an opportunity to resign. It’s a complicated situation and a significant decision, though, and I thought it might be helpful to talk about it with someone before I do anything. I-- know this will probably bore you, but I would really appreciate your opinion. I don’t know who else to talk to.”

There’s Barry, of course, but Rung can’t admit things to him like he can to Hornet. It’s just not the same.
