i remember feeling so heartbroken when i read this part, thinking about how wei wuxian picked the courtesy name for jin ling... only for jin ling to not even know it, after everything that happened

but "jin rulan" is still listed as jin ling's courtesy name in every source i've seen, and MXTX even talked about how jin ling dislikes the name for being "sissy", so i guess he will still receive it when he reaches the appropriate age? thinking many thoughts about it

Regarding your question about Beren's hair color, Chapter 19 of The Silmarillion says "It is told in the Lay of Leithian that Beren came stumbling into Doriath grey and bowed as with many years of woe, so great had been the torment of the road."
