this was really shittily made so pardon me for the GOD AWFUL writing here, but i... don't think much about the socs... the only reason i did was in honor of a friend of mine's birthday who recently passed ( happy belated @coffeeistired !!! ) and they're major obsessed with brandy, so now I'M gifting it to them !!! ish ! kinda !

these two were painfully mean in my brain, something about my recent reread and really picking about how emotionless and stagnant randy is it just really dug me, i wanted to make something out of it, wanted to make something out of the fact that randy practically rambled about all the shit bob went through and how no one ever stopped him, no one ever said no to him. i feel like randy's dad isn't all as he makes him out to be, feel like maybe there's a bunch to unpack there — they get to unpack together, y'know?
it's really funny because this was my actual first completed little "art comic" i guess you could put it with the stylus and pen action i mentioned. IT'S SO FUN !!! I'm learning a lot, obviously, but it's so fun to just explore and test out !!! i think for my first real attempt at doing anything serious with it, it went way better than expected ...
but the app i used did crash about 20 different times so 💀 NOTHING LOST, THANK GOD, i thank the stars for autosave jesus FUCK.
i went to a comiccon yesterday, and my weekend has been a bit all over the place ; i would've gotten this out on friday if it weren't for the fact i had to leave to go to my friends house for the con in the morning 💀 BUT HEY, WE STILL MADE IT and that's what counts !!!

I seem to have a thing for the characters that have been abused and trampled on by a narrative that makes zero sense both in fandom and the show itself.
oh yeah i read some of robin 2021 when it was first coming out and tbh wrt damian’s character i feel like dc has kind of just lost a grip on what makes him uniquely compelling/sympathetic. like in his teen titans run where they make him borderline evil for no reason it’s so… strange to me. the writers cannot agree on if they want damian to be unchangeable and inherently bad or not bc in detective comics he’s given at least some depth. he gets some little family moments which is nice. and i have been begging for them to bring his dynamic w steph back i miss them sooo bad pre 52 come back to me. his character design in robin 2021 is really good though i love his nose and darker skin <3
the way you phrased that i think dc is having literally the exact same issue with tim in the opposite direction. like they characterise him as good and normal too much that he's boring and they forget what made him compelling was that despite coming from a relatively stable background he's still messed up and in the soup. and also has a complex relationship with the no-kill rule and is hella parasocial and can be very offputting and obsessive beyond "wow so driven".
i admit writing like teen titans is mostly why i didn't like damian. a lot of his early days pissed me off sm. but yeah almost all of batfam interactions were better pre-n52. jason is maybe the only person to come out better off for those ret-cons, and even he gets dragged thru the mud still. that's the annoying thing with newer or less popular characters is a lot of writers just dont care abt them but get assigned their books and proceed to butcher/disregard them.
that said, i think there is intention with what DC is doing with damian? i think they see how some fans still hate him and are trying to pander but the whole reason people dislike him is because of stuff he was written to do in other characters' books/storylines that made us go "im not reading a whole run about this asshole." and so didn't even read son of the bat. its messy yeah
