Anyways. Quilt is in linguistics mode so hard thon’s literally vibrating so let’s talk about conlangs!

Idk if you know what conlangs are so we’ll give you a rundown. Conlang stands for constructed language and represents any form of language that didn’t develop naturally. There’s a couple types: engelangs (engineered languages), auxlangs (auxiliary languages), and artlangs (artistic languages).

Engelangs are languages that were engineered for some purpose or experiment. The most common types are logical languages, which are supposed to eliminate semantic ambiguity, philosophical languages, which are meant to embody or encourage one philosophy or another, and experimental languages, which emphasize one aspect of linguistics to play around with and study.

Auxlangs are languages created to be common languages between groups of people. You might recognize Esperanto—that was designed to be a common European language! The only problem is that in real life, they dont work. Human nature just doesn’t attribute itself to that. That’s why lingua francas are more useful than auxlangs.

Artlangs are languages that express the creator’s emotions or way of thinking. Sometimes they’re made because the creator needed to express themself in a different way (heartlangs). Sometimes they’re made to be in a fictional word (fictlangs). Sometimes they explore how a real language would have evolved differently (altlangs). Other times, they’re just made for fun because the creator wanted to.

The conlang I want to create is an experimental language that switches the time aspect from verbs to nouns, like so:

“I used to eat the same thing as I eat now” —> “past-me eats the same thing as present-me”

The verb itself stays the same. The concept of eating hasn’t changed as time has moved on, but I as a person have changed, so I’m the one with the time aspect.

I… don’t know how this would work. I’m still thinking about the details. But that’s the concept I want to explore in the conlang :)

This man wants to be the best father

Oh my god he’s so excited

But he’s also terrified

He thinks about the difference between how his father acted when he was younger and how distant he got as Milo got older

And he really doesn’t want that to happen between him and his own kid

So now he’s slightly spooked but mostly excited

‘Oh my god my ma’s gonna flip when I tell her, I can hear her already- wait… is it alright if I tell my ma?”

“Yes Milo you can call your mother and tell her”

He’s literally calling the entire pack to tell them the good news.

He takes on the sole responsibility of cooking (and a lot of other things but cooking is that main one). He’s cooking anything from dinner to weird midnight cravings

He also attempts to build the crib, but he ends up having to call David over about halfway through to help him finish.

His mom sends over help when she can, either giving parenting tips or sending Milo recipes for him to make

When it’s time for the baby to be born he’s panicking all over again

He’s there through the whole process

His hands kinda hurt from being squeezed so much

But when the doctor hands him a tiny squirming bundle, he just kinda goes quiet

He just sits in the crappy hospital chair holding his kid

He’s soft
