The shone shone softly through the wispy clouds that were scattered across the sky. Vikings of all ages were taking advantage of the pleasant weather- children were playing outdoors, while the adults were finally able to clean up after last week's storm, which had torn away at many crops.
Astrid slid of the back of her dragon, giving the Nadder a quick pat under its chin. They had just been flying for a little over an hour, challenging both of their endurance. Now that Astrid was on the ground, her legs felt like jelly, threatening to give out at any second. Stormfly was quick to lay down on the ground, her breaths coming in elaborate huffs.
"Stormfly, you're going to have to get up," Astrid said, a failed attempt to get her dragon off the ground. The dragon just grunted and curled into a tighter ball. Frustrated, Astrid sat down, leaning against the dragon's sleeping body.
