A helpful little guy- with meltdowns
So the nice thing about Yellow is he is quiet the helpful lil guy, even with his meltdowns. He will help pick up items in my room and try to get drinks when he can for us. He’s just ready to help as long as he hasn’t run out of juice.
The meltdowns can be something awful though. From what I read it is worst for the autistic person than the rest of us but as a mom knowing how sweet he can be- seeing him freak out like that just breaks my heart.
It’s why I was proud yesterday because he was about to have a meltdown because he tried so hard to keep track of his stickers and then he lost one. He looked around and was trying not to melt down. He did for about 10 seconds and then calmed down realizing there were some other options.
Today he had a mini meltdown for another reason. He’s been trying so hard to be kind at school (the theme for the year) and he has also been getting bothered by the calendar not being updated in part because the teacher has been out a lot lately. Since today was 100 days he thought he’d try and fix all the parts of it to match 100 days. The sub didn’t pay attention or care and he messed with several things on it. When we told him he shouldn’t have done that without talking to the teacher first... well....
Lots of hugs and calming down later. We think we are going to encourage him to write a note to the teacher telling her what happened. But I am worried that she will blow up at him and cause another meltdown... which I don’t know how often it’s happening because no one will tell me when they happened because “well, it was fixed.”
Tomorrow is Saturday. I wonder if by change the doctor’s report will be done.
