(≧∇≦) - What makes the character happy:
Self-assurance, reassurance in his actions and a healthy deal of attention. 274 is a lone wolf, content with his own company, but he is the best there is and loves to be assured of such. Like a cat, he craves constant attention and admiration, but only on his terms. Sometimes being left alone for a while pleases him too - it’s not relaxing at all being a celebrity within your own organisation.
As Soopreme Leader and even before holding such a position, 274 is always happy to see the Kids Next Door organised and on track. He may be a certain degree of vain and egotistical, but it’s this organisation which has pushed him to that point - this organisation which has shown him everything he has the potential to be - and both it and its operatives are his pride and joy. 274′s ego, kept closely under wraps as something he appreciates very privately, comes only from truly believing he is one of the finest things to ever happen to the Kids Next Door. The organisation holds the very essence of his heart and soul - it’s almost as if he and the KND are one and the same, and he adores it.
(;へ:)- What makes the character cry:
The last time Chad remembers crying was the night before Numbuh 100′s thirteenth birthday. It was one of the rare times he was completely alone, in his quarters on Moonbase, and he hadn’t been able to hold it together any more. His partner, his best friend, the one who’d taken him into the Kids Next Door and showed him all he could be was leaving - and it wasn’t just a ‘see you later’; decommissioning an operative and wiping their memory of the last five years completely destroyed who the Kids Next Door had shaped them to be. Numbuh 100 wasn’t just leaving, he was disappearing forever.
It hadn’t been loud, sat on the edge of his bed with his head held in his hands and tears dripping through his fingers, but Chad had never been a loud person to begin with. He could fight like a wildcat when he needed to, fierce and brave and lethal, but every motion outside battle was gentle; every word soft. Even sitting there, angry and betrayed and utterly, utterly lost, shaky exhales and thick swallows as he struggled to hold control were all that echoed in the room.
The next day he’d been frightened he might break, but when Numbuh 100 called him up to the podium beside his birthday cake and pressed the rule book of the Soopreme Leader into his hands, passing on the role without a word, something steeled inside Numbuh 274. He was being trusted with this entire organisation - he was a leader now, with that small motion, not a regular operative any more. He must never show the weakness to loss which burned in his eyes then, hidden behind the sheet of blond hair only 100 knew how to tilt his head just right to see through.
And he didn’t cry, even when the candles were blown out, even when his hands gripped the book so hard his knuckles turned white like the residual smoke curling up into the darkness of the auditorium as Numbuh 100 turned and left them all behind.
Chad has never cried again.
