GIRL BOSSES DON’T GATEKEEP
A ~healthy~ winter arc ❄️🎱
Okay, so, I’ve seen this trend lately online talking about entering a “winter arc.” The basic principle of the winter arc trend is to take October, November, and December, to reflect, create goals, and start to integrate them. Thus, by the new year, you will have leveled-up. You will be the higher version of yourself you know you’re capable of.
It’s never too late to start a winter arc, and with more holiday breaks coming up, it may be wise to use the extra downtime to scheme.
If you look up this trend, please don’t listen to the people telling you to never relax and to restrict yourself. Take it from the witchy blog, winter is meant for rest and rejuvenation. I simply encourage you to change your perspective on how this looks.
I’ve divided my winter arc goals into three categories: career, relationships, and personal health. How do I want to use my unknown time quantity on Earth?
Especially with the state of current global affairs, it is important to be decisive and intentional with our time. Not only for activism and collective action, but self-care so we are able to participate.
I encourage you to make your winter arc fun. I started with collaging in my art book. For a few weeks I picked up any newspaper or magazine I saw and brought it home to cut up ✂️
For this creative part I encourage you to ask yourself;
- what does this future version of you spend their money on?
- how does this future version of you care for themselves? How do they dress?
- how does this future version of you interact with their community network?
While looking to my collage for inspiration on my metamorphosis, I began journaling goals. About four per category. And they were vague. Things like “network with women in STEM,” “regularly call friends and family,” and “start my day with a 10-minute meditation.”
Now it’s time to get real. I used Canva to make when-then statements - and cute af ones at that! Now my “network with women in STEM” goal reads “by June of 2025, I will have had three intentional meet-ups with inspirational women in my field.” Reasonable timeframes, reasonable quantities.
THIS PART IS CRUCIAL GIRLBOSSES!! Action items. How can I achieve this goal? What ways can I utilize my time to make this happen? For this networking goal my action item is; “have your first meet-up as a re-connection with a former superior colleague. Continue to identify and connect on LinkedIn with women in the industry who inspire you. Attend women in STEM meetups and perhaps volunteer to coordinate events with younger women. Always prepare thoughtful questions to make the meet-up intentional.”
And finally, integration. Begin to integrate your goals into your daily life! Delete the social media apps that suck up your time and recalibrate to the higher version of you. After a week, you’ll find you don’t miss the scrolling and that you’re far happier being present in your existence. Disconnect for the winter arc, you can always hop back in once you feel grounded in this version of you.
And that my friends, is the ~healthy~ winter arc. Give yourself grace and freedom to dream.
Attached are my first drafts…
