Repost from @theequinedocumentalist • How can we reduce strain on the soft tissues through each stage of the stance phase? One of my favourite shoes to use utilising mechanics to reduce soft tissue strains is the timeline shoe. Often Advocated by Dr Caldwell. This version of the timeline shoe, (with less sections to the timeline) so called because it’s design addresses each stage of the stance phase, from softening heel impact, through stabilising midstance to easing break over, is a great alternative to the banana shoe when dealing with horses working at great speeds. This polo pony has some navicular issues, so the elevation helps reduce strain on the deep digital flexor tendon. It has 6 degrees elevation, a large “wedge” which can create an unsympathetic impact phase hence the timeline added. Also with large elevations it’s important to maintain frog contact, with the “reverse wedge” on the heels frog ground contact is re-established at impact. The design also reduces the load in the palmar 3rd of the hoof by shifting the point of force, so should encourage heel improvement. #polo #highgoal #specialists #farrier #horse #polopony #biomechanics - #horse #horses #horsesofinstagram #equestrian #horseriding #pferd #horselover #equine #horselove #pony #instahorse #horsepower #nature #showjumping #equestrianlife #pferdeliebe #cheval #pferde #photography #dressage #horsephotography #horsestagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CgKezkwp8fQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
