I’ve been meaning to watch YYH tbh, but the old-school animation look of it always kind of turned me away! Glad to know it’s a gem despite that, I’ll defs check it out some time!

It is a very old anime; it was made in the 90s so it has the typical 90s anime aesthetics, everything was hand-drawn so the art style isn’t as clean or consistent as we’re used to seeing now, with our digitally produced high-def anime.  But imo the outdated style and the cheesy cartoon music and the horrendous wardrobe choices are all part of its charm. :) It’s an old fashioned fighting anime with heart, amazing characters, pretty rad story and of course, awesome one-on-one battles.

...on Flight.

Great old school straight forward drama following one man’s arc from the sky to the ground.  The titular flight is awesome.  Denzel’s character spends most of the movie making a convincing case for high-function alcoholism’s existence, at least if you restrict the purview of that high-function strictly to professional life. Zemeckis has dicked around for so long it's easy to forget he makes great mass-market movies.
