Michael was quiet, extremely quiet, as in face stuffed in a book, hoodie covering his messy, just rolled out of bed hair, and sweater paws covering his callused nervous hands. Out of the corner of his eye he could see you talking to your friend in the front corner of the classroom. Years ago when Michael was in primary school he had talked to you. You two were in the same class for years and he learned a lot about you, you two became close but unfortunately for him, you two had drifted apart.
”Mike? You listening?” Luke asked, snapping his fingers in front of his face. “Huh? Yeah sure, my house, video games, pizza…” he said, not knowing what in the hell his friend had said. “Jeez, just ask (Y/N) out already, its been like 10 years. We’re going to Cal’s, his mum made lasagne yesterday and he said theres leftovers, and I want it. ” Luke replied before turning back towards the front of the board where your advisor was telling everyone about the bulletin for the day. “As you know prom is coming up next month and tickets have just gone on sale so head to the administration office to get them. Now I need to see these students before you all head off to class….” He tuned him out, not interested in hearing about the kids that didn’t turn in their form for the field trip next Tuesday.

“Ask (Y/N). Go She’s right by her locker, just go up to her and ask her.” Calum tried to push Michael towards your locker. “Yeah, you already bought her those flowers, just go and ask her.” Ashton encouraged.
He could do this, yeah, he could do this. He could just go up to you and ask you to go with him. It would be easy right? Just go up to her an–NO. Can’t do this, can’t do this. “Yeah…No I can’t do this, I’m going home. See you later!” Michael yelled as he gripped onto the tulips and dashed out the door.

“It’s been a week, why do you still have those flowers in there.” Luke asked as Michael was grabbing his history textbook out of his locker. “They just remind you of how you were too scared to ask her out.” He mumbled. “Wow, thanks Luke. Cause I couldn't remember.” he said sarcastically before grabbing the flowers and heading towards the garbage can. But before he could toss them in he saw you standing at your locker. “I dare you, just do it.” Luke said, pushing Michael away from the trash can and over towards the other side of the hallway where you were.
As Michael walked over to you he felt the dried flowers in his hands. Surely you wouldn’t appreciate these, you probably already had a date. But Michael knew that if he turned around, Luke would be right there, ready to spin him 180 degrees and back in your direction.
"I got you your favorite flowers but they’re dead because I couldn’t work up the guts to come and talk to you.” he muttered when he got to you, before looking towards his beat up converse. “Thanks Mikey” you smiled taking the crunchy tulips from his hands. You could tell he wanted to say something, his hands fumbling with the now broken paperclip in his hands. “So that dance thing…” he started, finally looking you in the eyes. “Oh, I was wondering if you wanted to go. With me. As a date?” You asked. What. Did you just ask him to prom. “That’s actually what I wanted to ask you” he laughed, starting to feel more comfortable around you. “Well, what do you say Mikey?” you were still smiling. “I’d love to go with you” he said before he looked towards the other side of the hall where he saw his friends giving him a thumbs up. “I gotta go but we can talk about the details later right?” he asked before the boys started clapping him on the back with a few congratulatory shouts.
