You love Ieiri, with all of your heart, truly you did but even so that didn’t change how distant she had been lately, from the moment Gojo and Getou had come back from that accursed mission, covered in blood and draped in despair. She had fretting over Getou’s wellbeing since he had been so despondent, had been comforting Nanami ever since Haibara had passed, had been laughing with Gojo while secretly asking him if Getou was doing any better. You understood of course, friends were important, things had been going downhill at an alarming rate recently, but when was the last time you had gotten to hug her? When had you last sat next to her in class or shared a cigarette after hours? When had you last been close? You sniffled quietly, burying your face in your knees, You had been sitting on the school steps with the night air tickling your arms, Ieiri was supposed to have here 20 minutes ago, you had agreed to meet up after you told her how much you missed her and now……
Now she wasn’t here. Now you were alone with the moon and the breeze, left to wonder if Shoko was out laughing at your pitiful form the way you guys used to laugh at Gojo and Getou.
"Y/N? Sorry I’m so late, Getou-“ Ieiri paused when she saw you tear stricken face, your eyes red and swollen as you looked up at her through your damp lashes. "What’s wrong?” She asked quietly, sitting down on the step next to you as her arm came to rest around your shoulders. You sniffled before curling into her touch, opening to ask something that could very well spell the end of you Ieiri’s relationship.
"Do you still love me?“ You didn’t give her a chance to answer before it all came out in a rush. "You’ve just been so occupied lately and we haven’t talked in forever, and your always with Gojo and Getou these days, I just miss you so much but I don’t…” You looked down, unable to look at her face while you broke down so helplessly. “I don’t know anymore.”
For a moment the night was silent, crickets sang in the background as lightning bugs light up the sky.
"I’m sorry Y/N. I didn’t mean to, Suguru’s just been so off lately but I shouldn’t have left you alone like this.“ She watched sadly as you wiped you tears off with your jacket sleeve. "I know Getou’s important I just-” Ieiri gently put a finger on your mouth, forcing you to stay quiet as she corrected you, voice quiet. “It’s not your fault Y/N, It’s mine ok?” You reluctantly nodded when she looked at you for confirmation. “I love you, I always will.” She said as she pulled you into a hug, resting her head on top your own.
“There’s no one else I’d wanna be with.”
