one of my favorite tropes of all time for now and forever is a good character being hypnotized/brainwashed/possessed by the villain and is forced to do evil things. Like they look like themself, but the things they do are so clearly not themself. And if there’s nothing their friends can do except call out to them and hope that they hear them this time, but their efforts are futile. God I love shit like this
