Simple Mechanics
@eldestgemini liked for a starter
Mizuki’s mind still muddled together with the events that led to her arrival. Whenever she didn’t keep her tinkering fingers busy with any sort of activity, she could feel herself falling into despair as her mind mulled over the painful memories of friends and neighbors turning on her and her sister. The mechanic had been lucky for the opportunities in Wonderland; no longer did she have to hide her true self, and she had the opportunity to open up her own shop and continue working on the things she enjoyed.
Still, any downtime was torturturous on her subconscious.
So Mizuki needed to keep herself busy. Even between the short breaks in-between classes and the long hours between the shop’s business hours, she continued working on random machines and knickknacks just so she could learn their inner workings. Of course she had her inept ability to understand the machniery, but there was nothing like taking it apart and witnessing the interwoven gears. Today had been one of the days that she needed to keep busy, but the shop had nothing for her to do, so she wandered around Cestrelle to buy supplies.
There was nothing peculiar about a girl covered in the gross and grimy glory of garage work, a slab of metal thrown over her shoulder and a bag of tools in her other hand. The bag waved through the air as she lifted her hand to wipe sweat away from her cheek, smeaing some of the oil from her work glove onto the soft flesh. She hummed a nursery rhyme that her father often sung to her and her sister.
“Little frog in the bayou...” she sung under her breath and keeping her pace. But a man on a motorcycle quickly whipped past her, and the tunneled wind knocked her off balance and caught the thin metal slab into the vortex, causing it to leave her grip.
Blue eyes widened as she watched it drift towards a person, moving in slow-motion as she feared for the worst. Her mouth gaped as she gasped, and she held up a hand and created a barrier between thet metal and the man, crying out to him. “Watch out!”
