Redwood National Park DAY 1 | DAY 2 | DAY 3 | DAY 4 Purple line for day 1. Click for map. (Day 1 of 4.) I decided it was ...
Is that just the slightest touch of fall?
I headed out to Redwood National Park to backpack for four days. First day was a really quick one to the campsite, but then a long loop back around to the camp again. Lots and lots of redwoods, but the old growth was first and last and just a few tiny islands.

The second day, I continued along Redwood Creek Trail to Tall Trees. It’s hard to see just how tall from the bottom. I hiked up the trail to the parking, then back down Emerald Ridge to the creek. From there, Redwood Creek is well traveled both up and downstream. I went up to find a camp site.

The third day, I hiked back down Redwood Creek to have another stroll through Tall Trees. I then walked down Redwood Creek Trail just far enough to start up to 44 Camp. From the camp, I continued to 44 Creek Loop to follow the lower section across. What to say when I saw it? Well, it was totally unmaintained and the four miles until it started to climb away from 44 Creek took more than four hours. I guess I still got it? Found the bit that is the hardest to hike and hiked it. Got in quite late because turns out it was a long mile day too.

The last day, I decided to splash down the creek again for the last mile before the seasonal bridges. I found some nice spots before retracing my tracks to the start.
