House Vogel is a minor noble house that currently claims lordship over a territory near the Brionac Plateau. Centuries ago, members of House Vogel were originally part of House Aegir before disagreements led to a secession of members, forming their own noble House far away from the duchy of Aegir. Territory was granted to them by former House Arundel through swearing fealty and serving them during the First Mach War.
With the members of House Vogel's inexperience in overseeing a territory and an attempt to own its own port city for commerce despite competing with other Houses, however, they has lost power and influence over time.
The current baron Emmerich von Vogel wishes to reclaim some of the lost power and gain greater influence in Adrestia through attempting to fill the void in commerce House Nuvelle left behind after the Dagda and Brigid war, and his sole daughter Hillevi, teaching her the ways of the perfect noble and how to gain favors and connections with the more powerful nobility of Adrestia, and House Aegir is no exception.

A student of the Black Eagles, she's the sole daughter of Baron Vogel, a power-hungry noble who raised her like a porcelain doll, and she joined the academy and began her journey of self-discovery.

Pre-academy Hillevi would write super neat to live up to her father's expectations like below

Emmerich von Vogel is very power hungry, resulting from the steady decline of House Vogel's influence over the span of centuries after they broke off from House Aegir and gained territory to govern over after assisting the former House Arundel and serving them during the First Mach War in the Fodlan year of 721. He wanted to regain power for House Vogel and break the animosity between Houses Aegir and Vogel to do so, starting to put in efforts to appear favorable to other Adrestian nobles, especially higher ranking ones.
He tried numerous times to have a son with a Crest with the baroness, but she couldn't bear children for a long time. They finally conceived Hillevi, but she was unfortunately born as a girl and without a Crest, as well as the mother dying in childbirth. In Emmerich's eyes, she was a defect, but he was stuck with her, so he had to make the most of what he was given.
Hillevi spent her entire childhood groomed to be what Emmerich considered the "perfect noblewoman": poised, elegant, beautiful. She had to cover her freckles with makeup to hide "impurities", constantly had to carry herself in manners that would appease him, basically had to be a porcelain doll acting as a puppet for him. If she dared to step out of line, she would be berated horribly with criticism and abusive remarks. He instilled into her mind that she would not be loved if she didn't present herself the way he wanted her to.
It didn't matter, though. No matter how hard she tried to be agreeable and exactly how he wanted, he saw her as a defect.
The academy was Hillevi's first taste of freedom away from her father's influence, allowing her to test new waters, finally speaking her mind and acting however she wanted. She was accepted by her peers, appreciated for who she was, and it gave a newfound hope for her that she could be herself.
The following detail the events of Three Houses
When she returned home after Edelgard's attack on the church, however, Emmerich was disgusted by what he saw in her. She had discarded everything he had taught her and dared to stand confidently before him. He saw all of his efforts crumble before his eyes, believing that she would not be able to achieve his dreams by the way she was. This infuriated him, and for the first time physically assaulted her. Out of self-defense, Hillevi kills him with the closest thing she could use against him: the dagger around the waist of her school uniform.
The scar is a permanent reminder to Hillevi that she would never be accepted by her father nor she would be able to reconcile with him.
The following detail the events of Three Hopes
After Edelgard's battle in Enbarr, which Hillevi takes part in due to being a minor noble, Emmerich finds out about how she personally took part in usurping Duke Aegir. With that he realizes that (in his eyes) his chances to improve Aegir-Vogel relations are ruined at that point and he becomes angry at the new emperor for destroying his ambitions.
During the two year timeskip Baron Vogel initially stays compliant with Edelgard in hopes to rise through the ranks. Hillevi, not having the time to develop her own identity during her short school life, also acts compliant while living with him (although received quite a berating over her hair). However, he snaps once he finds out that Hillevi was exchanging letters with Edelgard about her plans to overthrow the church. Due to being devout to the Church of Seiros, he does not stand for this as well as the fact that Hillevi is conspiring with her. His plan then was to marry Hillevi off to a minor noble in Faerghus to take her out of the line of succession and to secede from the Empire. Hillevi informs Edelgard of what happens and she interferes to prevent it from happening by making her the Baron. She then spends the timeskip assisting Edelgard in her plans.
During Scarlet Blaze, Hillevi will mention that Emmerich began cooperating with the former Duke Aegir immediately once he caught wind that he was planning to rebel against Edelgard. However, he will not appear on the battlefield. If Shez talks to Hillevi after that battle in the campsite, she will mention how he was cowardly through and through, desperate for power because he would otherwise have nothing to hide behind.

I drew her eating Beast Meat Teppanyaki here! Her favorite meals include ones with meats, lots of spices, and honestly anything that's from a foreign nation! She thinks that there's a lot you can learn about a culture from their food so she will Literally Eat Anything if you tell her it's a traditional dish/staple food lmao
