i love how communal c!tubbo’s design is. its true many characters hold designs that have altered from original skin and are basically formed by the community artist and that are accepted as almost canon, but c!tubbo truly is the chimera of the century. no one else has a design so vastly shared among fan creators despite being so constantly changing and vastly different from his canon skin. man really embodies the community and the art/text it’s based upon intertwining. like, c!tubbo’s design has gradually developed alongside the fandom. and often people don’t like to erase anything from the old or reform how we see him, but people just add on to the previous, so little man carries history and teamwork in his very semblance. concepts and designs get passed around in fandom as a form of broken telephone. sometimes pulled straight from canon, like the burn marks. but also certain concepts become the norm outside and despite their intended headcanon context, like the horns. some ideas get started and morph a little with every artist they touch, not really based on anything, purely an adored aesthetic among the fandom, like his eyes. our little man.
