Loose Thoughts & Observations about deltarune's not too important, not too unimportant, Egg. (SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 5)
The MANCOUNTRY Egg & the final Egg has been making me think.
With MANCOUNTRY, weve been told about how to reach all the Eggs except tor Chapter 3 (since we were already there to begin with), but, I think its the final instruction that he gave that really confuses me, that being "Hold your breath, head to the left, & count backwards from 100"
While I understand that its probably not intended to be "literal", a part of me feels like it could be tied to... like... three things:
"Its in reference to how we got to Chapter 3's Egg Room", although i have a hard time believing this since we are already there, not to mention, the instruction itself is after Sunday, and its clearly intended to be a seperate instruction altogether from both Friday & Sunday. Also, Chapter 3's vague Darkners & Optional Content pretty much act as your overall instruction to reaching the Egg of Chapter 3
"Its in reference to how we reach the Sunday Egg Room", this one, I guess would make sense if it wasnt for the fact for like... we do that twice. Once by following the Balloon, then twice after solving the Flower Puzzle.
"Its in reference to the Dog Room specifically", ... honestly I guess that would make sense, considering the player likely would be holding their breath as they panic water the grass to reach the Egg Room so the dog doesn't take the watering can. Still, this kinda just feels a bit dubious.
Regardless, the last instruction STILL strikes me as odd, even with the last bullet point where it could make sense, the reason being the fact that for every day related instruction, its always just vague but JUST roughly understandable enough to know where you need to be or WHERE you need to go (well... maybe not CH1 since that one is meters away from the actual bake sale), all EXCEPT the last one. ALSO, another problem I've got with it has to be with the fact that it is very clearly meant to be separate from the Sunday Instruction since the Sunday instruction ends with a period, before going to the next instruction.
Like, if i had to actually theorize as to what it could be related to, then it'd probably have to be with Chapter 6, although as to where is honestly yet to be determined, but I have ljke... two guesses:
A: Some weird random cutscene where Kris is able to move or has to hold their breath.
B: In the middle of an important battle where we have access to "HoldBreath" but its placed within the same spot as "CroakOnX"
A part of me believes that it would no doubt be "B" considering its the only actual instance where we would probably be able to "hold our breath"
I think something else is the fact that.... it only really refers to Kris not feeling like they have to search for him anymore, never not us. Hence why a part of me believes thar during an integral story moment, we will be able to just... leave, and meet him again.
But.... that's just how I feel it could happen, if it does happen, cool, if it doesn't, then that's fine.
Although.... i should have mentioned earlier, another reason why i am inclined to believe we will probably meet the Man again when we are not looking for them has to do with the Evidence description for the Egg during Blue & Yellow's Fight:
"It's evidence. You'll know what it was evidence for when it happens."
Which could mean nothing or it could mean so many things... and a part of me is inclined to believe the latter considering that this is toby fox. Not to mention, just the fact that people seem to forget that a lot of toby's work is sincere, and the Egg feels like an instance of that.
Also... if it were B, it would make sense why "The Voice" or as most people know him as, "W.D. Gaster" would have an ISSUE with it. Like, I'll be real with you guys, I dont trust "HIM", for very specific reasons, that being:
He's got the Mark of the Beast (666) strewn in his existence & acts all friendly towards us (something that is described with the Anti-Christ in the bible, being an almost charismatic figure with a silver tongue)
Has zero problem with the Weird Route (which feels more believable if you consider the idea of Onion-San being murdered by one of his followers & the fact that "Happy Town" is the name of the Weird Route Track in CH5, which also appeared in the sound test event in UNDERTALE in an earlier form, where Gaster's Theme was also included, in which once the test ends, you end up at the River Room with the Fishing Pole that can have a phone number attached to someone named "G...")
He selfishly refers to delta rune as "his" ("HOW MUCH LONGER, MY DELTA RUNE?") despite his claims of "LETS BUILD A FUTURE TOGETHER"
Toby Fox at some point talking about fighting secret boss(es) who speak in wing dings (or something along those lines).
His followers can NOT be trusted, especially not "normal_npc"/Gaster Follower 3
Chapter 4's Egg has Kris going into Art Therapy, which to me makes it sound like they dont want Kris getting help.
Just... something leads me to believe that he's got something in mind for us regardless of the route we take (also not to mention, its impossible to obtain ALL eggs for both Aborted Route [for TwistedSword] & Weird Route), not until you start getting the all the Eggs, THEN it starts becoming a problem to him.
It almost makes it sound like he DOESN'T want you helping Kris, his "CAGE", his "ASSET", his "KEY" to obtaining HIS "DELTA RUNE".
He doesn't want ANYTHING to change, something that would potentially harm HIS chances at obtaining his DELTA RUNE.
.... I wonder if thats why Ralsei is so afraid to change, to become something else they never were, to become independent, to break away from the prophecy as a whole...
Guess we won't know until 2027, so for now, we shall wait.
Y'know... unless like... toby starts vague posting new shit on the website in the interim lol.
