36 years of Metroid, apparently. The revelation that Autechre nearly did the music for Metroid Prime sent me back to one of the better things on the internet: this YouTube channel reinterpreting the original game's score with analog synths. Haunting stuff.
“Kraid (Metroid Prime Remix)” by SynaMax
Remix of Kraig’s Theme done the style of Metroid Prime, complete with using many of the same samples and synths used by Kenji Yamamoto!
The composer has also done some videos looking at the various synths and patches used in the Metroid Prime games, as well as an obscure hip hop sample CD that some of the percussion came from.

Rejoice, Chip Tanaka’s first album is here ⊟
Django is the first original album release by Chip Tanaka, the incredible chiptune alter ego of Nintendo’s best game composer/Creatures Inc. president Hirokazu “Hip” Tanaka.
It’s available via Bandcamp and iTunes in the US. I honestly never thought this would happen, and I’m so glad it has.

Calling all fans of the EarthBound, Kid Icarus, Metroid, and/or Super Mario Land soundtracks: the man chiefly (solely?) responsible for creating them has just released his first album.
And not only that, but it’s brilliant.
The man in question, of course, is Hirokazu "Hip"--now apparently "Chip"--Tanaka, and his new (as well as first-ever) album is called Django.
To learn more about it, and to hear some of its tracks, check out this post of mine: “Hirokazu 'Hip' Tanaka's first album is everything an EarthBound, Kid Icarus, or Metroid fan could want”
