Good deeds can’t compensate sins

Many people think that if they do enough good, God will overlook their faults, but that’s just like a spouse trying to compensate for their infidelity with gifts. In Mark 7:6 Jesus said “He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.’” God’s not interested in a false devotion, but a complete surrender. The Bible says “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13) and “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.” (Mark 12:30). That doesn’t mean perfection, we can’t be perfect, but it means a true determination not to surrender to our sinful nature.

When a self called chistian lives a dishonest life, it’s not a problem with the Christian teaching, he’s just being a hypocrite. Institutions made by humans are bound to have dishonest people among them, Jesus proves that when He chose Judas as one of His apostles. He also said “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” (Matthew 7:15). Jesus repeatedly confronted the hipocrates from His time and this type of person isn’t gone, they’re just hiding among others, pretending they are something they are not.
