Knowing their evil motives, Jesus replied, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?"
~ Matthew 22:18
OBSERVATIONS:.
Since He knew "their evil motives..."
What makes me think He doesn't know mine?
Oh, they may not be "as evil" at the Pharisees...
...but they're willful and sinful nonetheless...
...and that's what makes them evil...
That said, why do I test Him?
...hypocrite that I am...?
APPLICATION:
Quit testing Him!
Remember He knows my motives...
PRAYER:
Patient Father God - please forgive my selfish motives, my seeking my willful wants and desires over obedience to Your Will and Word and Your good and gracious blessings - Thank You for the forgiveness given through Your Son Jesus, and for His example of surrendering His will for Yours - In His Name, and for Your glory, praise, worship, and honor...

I want to make a 100% legit call out on all artists.
This includes writers, sculptors, musicians, poets, etc.
We can be some of the most annoying people the world has ever known.
A girl I once called my best friend was so into the 'idea' of being an artist she used to try and teach me what kind of music I should like.
She liked to dress like her mother. Like a vintage goth. It could look nice sometimes, and completely horrible at other times. The same as most styles can. Her mother cut her hair for her and she based herself somewhat completely around Siouxsie Sioux.
We eventually parted ways and grew distant. Mainly because I didn't assign to her 'taught' modules of prescribed personality enhancing talks. No, I don't like vintage. It smells weird and I hate the material. No, I don't like those old bands full of boring white dudes. I don't care how 'good' they were at playing the guitar. It wasn't my aesthetic. It didn't interest me. It wasn't anything new, it wasn't relevant or making a point. It was purely self congratulatory nostalgia for something neither of us had ever lived through.
It was made of pretense. It was an 'identity' that slotted her nicely into a label she would fiercely defend at the drop of a hat. She'd scoff at 'chavs' walking past her; people who didn't even talk to her, people who probably didn't even realize she was there until she was spitting some basic insult their way. She was a rich girl. It was like watching 'Rebel without a cause' except it was 'Artist without a clue.' She didn't have a point. She didn't have anything to say. One day she started doodling Morrisey and suddenly she was (poorly) making her own clothes, and wearing a short pencil skirt with patent heels, and had pale skin with dark, un-blended eye shadow. One day she was any other rocker kid, the next she was an artist. She was a musician. She was a writer. Most of all, she was serious business.
I suppose it's a little 'not cared for' to say art needs a point, however I'm not an artist. I'm a writer. The different mediums have different ways in which they work. Even Alice In Wonderland had it's point. Had it's method in the madness. I'm also not one for pretense. I'm not good with it. It's often found out and it's ultimately unpleasant. It makes people unpleasant. It's nothing new to me that a now 21 year old white woman who greatly relies on her parents for money lives in a 'notable and supposedly run down' part of London because it's 'artsy'. I highly doubt the normal conclusion of 'it's cheap and dear God, London is so expensive' ever came into it.
It's nothing new to me that she posts links to facebook about Brutalism and how hideous modern structures are between posts about 'to the new kid at art college application today who had the folder with the Fall Out Boy stickers - you're not getting in.' As opposed to her, the attention seeking, squealing Morrisey fangirl who annoyed just about everyone in her immediate friends group talking about 'Charlie the Unicorn' and 'Salad Fingers'?
How drole that the other young artist dare like something more modern. How dare they not be her kind of moody, egocentric artist.
It's almost like art has more to do with how you draw than what you like.
It's almost as if the people you went to secondary school with don't forget what an annoying little dick you were, no matter how hard you've tried to convince your new art friends that you're cool.
im thinking about changing my major from biochem to either computer science with a minor in media and culture studies or media and culture studies with a minor in computer science but idk if i want to go through with this. your thoughts?
