In my head, Victoria finding out about Samira and Jack is entirely her fault.
To be honest, she just wasn’t thinking straight. Long day of shopping and texting with Mateo, (who gives more mixed signals than anyone she has ever met) has left her completely brain fried. And she really, really, really doesn’t want to go home. Doesn’t need the lecture nor doesn’t need the conversation. She just needs to be somewhere peaceful, familiar and safe. So Samira immediately enters her mind.
And she knows she should have texted to give a heads up, because she always texts to give a heads up, and the thought does occur when she is halfway down Samira’s block. But her mind, who is currently not working, simply says ‘well she’s home it will just be a nice surprise’.
So Victoria, with shopping bag straps cutting off blood flow in her arm, runs up the stairs to Samira’s place like she lives there. She says hi to the neighbors who have gotten too used to seeing her face, as she digs under the welcome matt for the spare key, that practically has her name on it. And without any hesitation, puts the key in and marches through the front door.
The place is empty from her view, and quiet which isn’t unlikely for the place (unless she’s over of course), but there is a faint smell of something delicious cooking from the kitchen around the corner.
“Mimi!” Victoria yells out, as she struggles to kick off her converse by the shoe rack. “I know I should have texted! But you wouldn’t believe this deal I got at Garage.”
As she manages to take off her left shoe, she hops to fix her sock as she enters the kitchen.
“I also was able to get something I think you would like.” Victoria rambles as she turns the corner. “But you’re gonna need to try it on—“
And she stops. She stops because Dr. Abott is in Samira’s kitchen. No, he’s not just in her kitchen, he’s cooking. Their night shift attending, is in Samira’s kitchen cooking… in pajamas?
“Oh.” Dr. Abbot says calmly, as this is a normal interaction between the two. “Hey kiddo, what did you get at the mall?”
“I— Dr. Abbot. I mean.” Victoria is suddenly realizing how pointless whatever she had wanted to say before was. “What.. What the fuck?”
And at tha moment, Samira in her own pajamas clearly coming out of the shower with her curls falling over an oversized sweater comes from her bedroom stopping dead in her tracks.
“Vic.” Samira’s mouth drops. “Holy shit Vic.”
And then suddenly everything clicks.
“Wait!”
“Hold on!”
“Samira!”
“Vic!”
“This is the guy?! The older guy! Him?!”
“Older guy?” Jack mumbles. “I feel like I’m more than that.”
“Shush you!” Vic snaps. “Wait sorry. You’re still my attending.”
“Can we just.” Samira takes a deep breath. Closing her eyes. “Just talk for a minute.”
And then the two of them sit on Samira’s bed for an hour and a half, as Samira explains it all, Leaving poor Jack to sit in the living room, watching tv, occasionally poking his head through, because he both lives for the drama but is terrified of Victoria.
