Take a Seat at Spago in 1983

It's a Saturday night on Sunset Boulevard. The year? 1983. You're table? It's at Spago, one of the hottest restaurants in the city. It's only been open for a year, but the way its chef, Wolfgang Puck, is serving up California cuisine, this dining room is on its way to becoming one of the most iconic destinations in Los Angeles.

Many of our California-based Society members still recall the electricity surrounding Spago when it first opened where you'd have to traverse a row of Rolls-Royces parked outside before making the restaurant's front door, and sitting down to a nearly unheard of concept back then: simple dishes made with fresh, local products, at an affordable price. That's if you could get a table. A reservation at Spago was a status symbol unto itslelf in 1983.

Eventually the restaurant left this location and moved to it's present home on Canon Drive in Beverly Hills. But tonight, you're dining at the original, ground breaking room, that on a Saturday, just about everyone wanted to be in. Here's your menu.
