What do you think an unplurbed Zosia would be like and how do you think she’ll react to the Carol of it all
good question--i definitely don't have a single settled idea on this!! it's tricky to feel too committed to any one outcome when we don't have "hive POV" perspective of what it's like to exist in a joined bodymind, only what they relay to carol and the other immune. but going by what we do know so far (and taking the hive at their word since we know they cannot lie), i have no reason not to believe that any member of the hive would be devastated to be detached (as i discussed a bit in this post).
as for zosia's view of carol, oooh man. probably very complicated, even absent any anger she might harbor toward carol for detaching her!! for one, the emotional experience of detachment will almost definitely be suuuuper messy and overwhelming, between possible biochemical withdrawals and the "re-tuning" of the body's electromagnetic field. so initially, zosia will probably not have the energy or presence of mind to feel much of anything about carol, specifically lol. once the dust settles, though, i think she'll retain some of the love she felt for carol while she was joined! but i also don't think a detached individual is going to have the same... capacity? maybe that's the right word?? to experience love as they did while they were joined. so maybe that love will exist as a memory for her, the same way grief and suffering existed as a memory before she detached. but i also tend to think that if zosia and carol continue spending time together, the love they've already built will come more and more to the surface of zosia's consciousness and meld with whatever new form of love they're building as two individuals, which could be so beautiful <3 i definitely believe they can work it out!!
i will also (very bravely) say that i disagree with most takes about this topic, because they usually assume the following conditions are true...
a difference exists between zosia-the-joined-individual and hivezosia
joined individuals cannot consent (and, therefore, carol and zosia's sexual relationship must be considered violative/assault from zosia-the-joined-individual's perspective)
zosia-the-joined-individual will have regrets surrounding the hive's treatment of carol and will view the hive and joining negatively
...when there's zero canonical evidence supporting any of these!! imo, they represent carol's assumptions about zosia/the hive more so than they do zosia/the hive themselves. and i get why people latch onto that, but i do find it a bit exhausting when it's posited as the Truth. as much as i love carol, i don't think the show intends for us to view her as a 100% reliable narrator!! as we get more information about the hive my mind could very well change, but it's kind of a bummer how much of the fandom blows right by the information we're given explicitly in the show when they're ideating about where things might be headed. it feels like so many people have made up their mind that the hive is Bad, and so they're working backwards to fill in the blanks of these big, complex, philosophical questions (that the show wants us to grapple with, mind you!!!) with answers that support the conclusion they've already determined must be true. couldn't be meeee though, like i WANT to live in the thought experiment!!!! because it's a fucking cool thought experiment!!!!!
