been holding back the urge to write a dsaf multichapter fic around young dave meeting ringmaster henry and joining the circus that eventually turns to them at fredbears family diner and then dave's slow realization that the missing kids near henry's circus was because henry was killing them and then dave doesn't know what else to do because who is he without henry so he joins henry and they kill kids together and at first dave is sickened with himself but over time henry's praise and kindness pavloves him into relishing in their crimes because at least he has a home and a family now

at first glance, west seems to be more similar to their dad.  they have the same kind of humour, similar manerisms, they both speak fast and their smiles are near-identical.  moreover, there’s a distinct resemblance to the way their magic manifests, leaning more towards extravagant tricks and feats of illusion than carefully crafted spells (at least, that’s what their father liked to present to the world).

however, looking deeper, there’s a lot that can be found between west and their mother, personality-wise.  the temper, the impulsivity, the snark that comes with being restrained.  they love breaking rules simply because they can.  they yearn to do things their own way, because it’s the only way that’s quick and exciting.  they hate being told what to do and how to do it. 

west’s mom would see a lot of herself in her child as they grew up.  it oftentimes helped her push aside her own frustrations when dealing with the more difficult aspects of raising a child, as it was easy to see things from their perspective.  still, the two were too similar in ways that clashed---and so despite their similarities, the two were never as close as westin was with their father.
