Ooooh, either of the Amnesia fics and/or “painter model thing”??? 👀

The painter/model thing is based on this true story I heard where my brain immediately went "hmm, Queliot, tho..." the premise is, a dude who wants to practice his figure drawings goes on Grindr looking for new people to draw, another guy takes him up on it, and they spend literally a CALENDAR YEAR becoming best friends and falling in love while one of them is literally lying around naked on the other guy's couch for him to draw over and over again.

This is a real story about two real gay men who then later got together and then the artist did a whole gallery just of pictures he'd drawn of his boyfriend over the years of getting to know him, falling for him, getting together...

Eliot as artiste, and he's done this before with other boys and he really does want to practice his art but he's also upfront like "hey this usually ends up with us fucking if you're into that", but Quentin shows up one day and Eliot for some reason just... freezes and doesn't try and have sex with him? And they have a weirdly pleasant but totally professional session where Eliot draws him and Quentin just leaves? But then they get in touch and keep coming back and doing it again and again, and the longer they go without acknowledging that they definitely met on Grindr and are definitely both single and into each other, the weirder it gets to cross that line.

Idk I'm just extremely enamored with the scenario of like... they've barely touched, and Eliot's always fully clothed and buttoned up, but most of the time they spend together Quentin is straight-up just sitting there naked. Eliot's brain would melt out of his ears. But also he's improving his art skillz. And also Quentin lying there having to be perfectly still while Eliot gently instructs him when he's allowed to move, feeling the weight of another person's eyes on his body continuously... is... a thing that sounds um. Good. I feel like Quentin might learn something about himself in that scenario that he might not otherwise have known. ;)

Haven't written any of this, but I thought the story was so cute, it inspired me!!

Because Lord Eliot of New York was—

He was—

Well, he was tall.

Really fucking tall. And, like, he was dashing, which was a terrible word but the only one that was coming to mind, stupid as it was. Because, fuck, Lord Eliot held himself like he was born to be adored. A camel hair coat and a silk blue scarf framed his unfairly gorgeous face and draped over his broad shoulders, held back and still like stone columns. He was impressive as shit from every angle, but all Quentin could really see were his eyes, fern and copper, rolling Springtime hills and endless seas of gold. Then his defined face, his haughtily set lips, the way his posture towered like the peaks of the Nameless Mountains. Irrationally—pathetically— Quentin felt unworthy.

As soon as the thought sparked his heart paradoxically alive, Lord Eliot’s eyes met his and the music must have stopped. The Earthling’s brow ticked together once over a soft and inscrutable look, and Quentin couldn’t breathe.  But it only lasted a second.

… Because then those eyes narrowed over a knowing smirk.

The burning fury of a thousand wildfires attacked Quentin’s cheeks and he firmly looked away. Shit. Shit. He needed to get his shit together.

Little Quirks of Fate by @hmgfanfic, Chapter 2.

So I’ve been following this fanfic every week since it first came out and became obsessed with it. Reading the new updates on Thursdays is something I look forward to every week. It’s an amazingly sweet, excitingly addictive story. Seriously, go read it!! @hmgfanfic, thank you for writing it <3

Chapter 2 made me all giddy, so I wanted to try to draw Eliot and Quentin meet for the first time. This ended up being my fifteenth try at this scene ;___; Finding a cool style to draw them in is so much more difficult than I anticipated, haha. Also took a bit of liberty with the clothing by combining the chapter descriptions & El’s outfit in season 1 when they arrive in Fillory.

Fandoms: Right now pretty much just The Magicians, although I have been rereading some One Direction fic and Glee fic from years ago. Also, always Harry Potter and Buffy.

Where You Post: AO3, although I did post a Roosterteeth fic on tumblr like years ago

Most Popular Oneshot: turn me on, turn me off. Even though it’s part of a series, I’m going to count it because they’re all basically just stand-alone porny fics. 

Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: The only one I’ve written, which is Veins Fit to Bursting. 

Favorite Story You Wrote: Veins Fit to Bursting! I have basically been preparing to write something about the buffy-verse my entire life, so it just felt so fitting. I loved playing around with morality questions and indulging my vampire kink. It was also my first time building a world, which was so fun! I’m honestly so proud of it and it defines my 2019 to me in a lot of ways. 

How You Choose Your Titles: Either they’re some kind of phrase that feels relevant or a song lyric. For vampire fics in particular, there’s like trope-y words that everyone uses  (blood, veins, bite, etc.) that I wanted to include somehow. Fun fact, the original title of Veins Fit to Bursting was actually Empty Veins (because depression), but then I was like nah, this isn’t a story about being depressed so much as a story about finding hope. 

Do You Outline?: No for shorter fics that are basically just a scene or two anyway, and I kind of figured out what kind of outlining I need while writing Veins Fit to Bursting. 

Complete: On AO3, 10! I took a fanfiction writing class in college taught by my girlfriend in which I think I wrote maybe 3? But only ever posted 1 of those. 

Coming Soon/Not Yet Started: This week I’m contributing to the Eliot birthday fest, and then I’m slowly but surely working on a kink discovery no beast Brakebills era fic. And I have a vague idea of wanting to write some kind of werewolf thing to explore sappy pack feelings and cuddling, but we’ll see if I ever get to that. 

Do You Accept Prompts?: Sure! I have not written for any prompts yet, but that could be fun. If anyone has a specific angle of a kink they’d like me to write I am very open to hearing suggestions!

Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: I’m not sure if it’s going to play a role in the kink discovery au, but I’ve been thinking a lot in the past week about Eliot’s substance abuse issues and wanting to explore that. I think, understandably, a lot of fic either picks up after he’s decided to cut back or portrays him still in the functioning stages of alcoholism, but I’m excited and nervous to tackle it a bit more head on.
