a massive part of OCD treatment is exposure response prevention therapy, which is purposed to reduce your dependence on reflexive self-soothing when confronted with triggering incidents by triggering controlled incidents on purpose and deliberately resisting your compulsive actions, until eventually you're able to resist your compulsive action even when triggered by a spontaneous, uncontrolled incident. which means that people with OCD will spend a lottttttttttttt of time and money basically learning how to do this
