you ever think about how incredibly interesting it is that in rottmnt, the turtles were created purposefully with the intention of being soldiers/ weapons but by pure accident, they’re taken away and allowed to live free lives.

other iterations have their mutation happening as something like an act of god. thus being born as free creatures and eventually molded into soldiers during their lifetime either through splinter’s mentoring or as the danger in their lives escalates.

rise does a lot of flipping around of classic tmnt tropes and this one is very subtle, but might also be my favorite because it really gives the boys a little more autonomy in their decisions.
