fic where the corries learn that they’re legally allowed to do courses and get degrees when the commanders are required to get degrees in order to legally file a lot of the paperwork crossing their desk and authenticate arrests and stuff.

They sign up for interrelating minors after the first degree.

a lot of it is stuff they already studied in their training, so Fox and Thorn are working on spPHDs while doing all of their other duties.

this is all completely unremarked upon until someone in the clone fan messageboards finds one of Fox’s essays and has enough knowledge on the subject is like ‘guys this is really good, and ow, the chancellor’s ears must have burned when he submitted this, because damn’

clone fans being what they are, the other work by the other corries is gone over with a fine tooth comb, but it’s not really noticed other than that.

until fox ends up doing an art history course or something, and Jocasta Nu is actually the professor in charge.

he has to come in for some of the lectures so the students can properly experience the works in question, and they’re in the archive. He also shares classes with jedi younglings on top of the coruscanti locals and core world galactic students.

he also, for the first time, has a group project that isn’t allowed to just be done over the comms. presumably because the jedi younglings have these kinds of classes on their schedules so they can be socialised with non-jedi in a safe environment.

Fox isn’t aware but like three new people have declared fox one of their friends

Fox’s final assignment for that course is actually the one that really blows up despite him submitting several thesis by that time eviscerating the new mandalorian government, mereel’s supercommando codex (because fuck you jango, your dad is smart but not an untouchable god), and the republican senate. but the art history course is where he discusses several priceless-because-they’re-fucking-illegal-to-own-sheev pieces in the chancellor’s office and apartments.

he submits the paper just before he makes the arrest, which he has the authority to do both because he has the necessary qualifications, and because sheev made him a high general in the GAR so he could do more of his paperwork.

The long-awaited meeting between Hot Rod and Lost light.

Snippet:

The Lost Light did not expect to ever wake up. After the sudden attack, after sustaining all that damage, most of the crew lost and the captain injured… The titan’s last coherent memory file was of Rodimus taking over the controls just as they were going out of control.

Rodimus was gone, in the haze, he felt his presence fade and drift away, it tore his spark apart, knowing he was all alone and stuck. He did not know how much time passed since then, his emergency protocols kept him in forced stasis as his systems struggled to repair the damages, nanites pulling metals and energon from around him and from the stores he had in his cargo hold.

There were few moments of activity, but it was all but a dream, a dream of him, of his captain, of the crew, all together again and traveling the stars once more. He did not expect to wake up at all, his fate was to be forgotten and rust away until he joined the others in the Well. But against all odds, he felt- a presence, a familiar presence. It moved through his halls, towards the control room and then-!

*BZZZZZZZTTT!!!

There was a jolt of energy that surged through his systems and woke Lost Light up from his stasis. His very being buzzed, his spark spun like crazy once his processor caught up to what was happening- this couldn’t be! This literal ball of light, the EM field he had grown used to throughout the many vorns, the one whose absence had left him feeling cold and lost. It was the captain! Hot Rod was back, he had returned!

{Captain?... I- Where is? You- you are alive! I am so glad- where are you going? WAIT!!}

===A few hours earlier ===

“Whoah~” – Hot Rod couldn’t help but exclaim at the absolutely giant cavern he found himself in.

He pulled out his keychain, a small flashlight was clipped on to it and even though the light was not that bright, it did a good job lighting up the cavern. The place was huge and damp, the air was pleasantly cool and he would have liked it, if not for how eerie it felt when he heard the distant noise of bats somewhere high above him.

‘What did I get myself into?’ – Hot Rod asked himself.

And yet, he continued forward, something in his gut led him further into the cavern. Water trickled somewhere in the dark and he could see many stalactites and stalagmites on his way. There was also a lot of slippery mud thanks to the dripping water, which he did not appreciate- it was way too easy to slip when trying to navigate with only a flashlight.

*Crak-!

He stepped on something hard and crunchy.

‘Please, don’t be some freaky cave bug.’ – Hot Rod swallowed and pointed the shaky flashlight at his foot.

Instead of some creature he found- something hard and crumbly? He bent down and touched it. It was caked in mud and crumbled quite easily but when he rubbed some of the mud off, he found it was a piece of metal. A very rusty, crumbling piece of metal. What was it doing down there? How long had it been here to rust to this point?

‘Wow, illegal dumping in a cave. Why am I not surprised some trash ended up here?’ – he thought and continued forward.

If Hot Rod had stopped to examine the place more, he would have noticed many more pieces of iron scattered on the ground, all rusted over and caked in mud and sediment. A broken-dowl blocky shape scattered on the floor and thoroughly broken, unrecognizable.
