Random Headcanon: I don’t know and I don’t want to waste brainpower thinking of one for him :P

Unpopular Opinion: Buckly’s actions after the captain fell were understandable; some people just thrive much better in that second-in-command role than actually being a leader, and I assume that’s only exacerbated when the possibility of court martial or execution is hanging over you. ...though this only applies to his hesitancy, not to the bit in the show where he, like, maybe tried to kill Hornblower, and then failing that, threw him under the bus.
