I just want to take a moment to appreciate Gretel's pen from The Bottle Episode and how, while it's a small thing, it does a really good job of showing the close relationship Fred and Gretel have.

Fred got Gretel that pen as a birthday gift. And given how confident Fred is that Gretel would never leave it behind, Gretel must have really liked it. Fred essentially says at one point "Gretel would never leave this pen behind, it's too special to her because I gave it to her." ("If I know the superhero in question there is no way she would leave this pen behind. It was a birthday gift. From her favorite cousin.") That pen is special to Gretel because Fred gave it to her, and that says a lot even before you take into account that Gretel has ADHD. That makes it even more significant that leaving this pen behind is something Gretel wouldn't do, because that requires effort on Gretel's end. Gretel has to specifically put in effort to remember this pen, ESPECIALLY given that she carries it around instead of keeping it in one place.

I love the fact that in the episode where they first become friends, Friday Night Fight, there's a scene where Hiromi puts her hand on Fred's shoulder out of worry and removes her hand after Fred starts staring at it because they aren't close enough for Fred to be comfortable with that physical contact yet. Meanwhile season 2 features Hiromi putting her hand on Fred's arm or shoulder multiple times, with Fred being completely ok with it. It really shows the fact that they've become closer between season 1 and season 2.
