Spotted this post about "hockeypicking" for HR fanfic and just want to point to all the experienced hockey fans in the reblogs for the post who are happy to do this for any writers! And I'm happy to as well -- if you'd like your hockey to read a little more accurately, or want suggestions for what characters could say about a game or a player, I'm happy to be a 'hockey reader' or 'hockeypicker' and look over short scenes* or send a few thoughts your way. Even once you've started following hockey for a bit it's easy to miss stuff -- just went back and updated a fic from early fan days where we had a handshake line in a regular season game (oops!).
Of course, just because you're writing in a sports universe (or any real-world-inspired universe) doesn't mean you have to give a fuck about accuracy, this is fiction, we can do whatever we want, throw some dragons in there or have them ritually spank each other with their sticks before the ga- oh sorry, that second one is real, actually. Shout out Washington Capitals.
