okay but modern day muggle studies where each student gets given a muggle “pen pall” but instead of writing to each other (even though i love handwritten letters) they do regular facetime calls
Hello! I have to ask 45, especially after those amazing rec lists you did during the HP poc week. And I'm greedy so a two-for-one .. can I add on 18 and 19? Sorry that's a bit cheeky! Good good luck with the writing :) 🍀
Hello favourite <3 Be as greedy as you want! In fact because this blog is officially pro-greed when it comes to all things Harry Potter I’m going to create a rec list for you in a separate post re. my favourite minor character (Dean Thomas).
18: Favorite Hogwarts class?
I hated school and would probably be equally crap at all of the Hogwarts lessons. But (reading from this list) I think probably Herbology would be my favourite. Also can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that Hogwarts had an elective called ‘Frog Choir’?
19: Least favorite Hogwarts class?
ALL OF THEM. But especially Transfiguration (do the subjects know they’re being transfigured? does it hurt? what if you forget to do the lungs? or the eyeballs?).
Defense Against the Dark Arts was one of the classes Sirius was most excited to attend. His family’s house was chalk full of Dark artifacts, Dark books, and frankly Dark witches and wizards. He was one of the last to arrive in the classroom, but the lesson had not begun. James had saved him a seat.
“Everything good, macha?” asked James, a look of mild concern on his face.
“Spiffing,” Sirius said. “What’s that you called me?” He pulled out parchment, a quill and his ink pot.
“Oh ‘macha,’ Tamil slang for mate.” This made Sirius smile broadly
Suddenly the light in the classroom was extinguished, several people let out little screams. A gravelly voice emanated from the back of the room.
“Welcome, young-ones,” it said. “Welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts. In this lesson you will be studying ways to counter Dark objects, Dark enchantments, and Dark creatures.”
Sirius thought he heard someone close by take a sharp breath at the words. Candles ignited around the walls generating a dramatic ambiance with their golden, shimmering glow.
“My name is Professor Hillburn and I will be guiding your studies this year.” A squat man was making his way down the aisle between desks to take his place at the front of the room. He had a crown of bushy grey hair receding back at his temples. He was wearing a vest, complete with a pocket watch under his robes. His nose was rather bulbous.
