I’m a fan of the headcanon that Hogwarts students have access to magically enhanced muggle cellphones, in my opinion, the no electronics ban was lifted in 2011 or 2012 because of an epidemic of muggle borns and half bloods sneaking their cellphones in. It was easier to lift the bans and signal scrambler wards than penalise that many kids. Cell phones are just so vastly more efficient than owls, Headmistress Mcgonagall recognises that. Although there is still a decent sized percentage of conservative leaning wizards/witches who are against it for reasons of tradition “But we’ve always used owls, I can’t stand the muggle-ization of wizard culture.”
