as an agency nurse, noemie found herself in different places every single day, sometimes more than once a day and today was no different. after the current nurse at the school went on a leave of absence, they had struggled to fill the position and had called noemie to for a temporary role. unbeknownst to a lot of people, she had worked with special needs children longer than she had been a nurse. when she heard a small knock on her door, she smiled and raised her voice a little. “come in.” as soon as she saw the tall man and not a small child walk in, she smiled and stood up holding out her hand. “you must be jarel?” she asked before explaining why she had called him into her office. “i’ve heard that you’re feeling a little under the weather from a lovely lady in the teacher’s lounge and as i am here all day, i thought it would be rude of me not to see if there was anything i could do for you.”

despite still feeling quite delicate after her discussion with nathan, miriam was still in an unseasonably happy mood. she had never really favoured cold weather and despite england not being as chilly as new york was in the run up to a fully fledged winter, it had started getting grey and drizzly which unfortunately the capital was renowned for. stepping out of her rehearsal studio, she waved her castmates goodbye before turning the corner to where her car was parked and was met by a nasty, and very unwelcome surprise. 

it had been months since she had seen the man that stood before her, despite his feeble attempts at communication (to which she blocked him on every sort of platform she could think of after being prompted by nathan), she had expected andre galin to be out of her life completely, however she probably would never get so lucky. “you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” she blurted out, a surprise to even herself considering it had been a while since a curse word had left her mouth (and the last time was also probably because of andre). “what are you doing here andre?”

it had been a very exciting night for the latest young lady of america. after months of being sheltered by her brother, he had finally decided to let her go to a local college party. she spent the few hours beforehand figuring out a perfect outfit ( several options being denied by her brother’s girlfriend as ‘ provocative ’ ) before her brother and her very own date came to pick them up. clad in white shirt and red skirt, valentina could hardly contain her excitement, and hardly noticed the glares her brother recieved as they arrived. she was quick to shake loose her date to grab a drink, walking towards the table with bottles all lined up.

alex had gotten an offer from a wealthy businessman who wanted to franchise the night owl. that meant business meetings and fancy lunches. it was a hard decision to make. ultimately it was the best decision. his attachment to the original night owl was just sentimental. in the end franchising it would be better for his pockets. this was the first person who actually seemed authentic. they didn’t want to play him or try to change the place too much. alex had the best lawyer on his side just in case the deal did go sour. 

he was alone in the elevator for a floor before it stopped allowing another person to board. “hi.” the elevator started descending before coming to a halt. “oh god no.”

total eclipse of the heart ~ sam & cindy

so many missed opportunities. so many times he chickened out due to pure anxiety. he wanted it to be special. she deserved something that she would remember. that was the thing. sam kept wanting everything to be perfect for her. he wanted to give her the world. that was impossible. he could only be so perfect for her. so instead of trying to give her the world he decided to make the most of a day that would go on in history. the solar eclipse. 

he had a house out in tennessee which was perfect because the eclipse would reach totality right above them. cindy was freaked out when sam suggested getting away from the city. when he explained what it was for she finally relaxed then proceeded to call him a nerd the entire drive there. she also freaked out at the thought of staying in a tiny cottage. then she freaked out again when she saw that the tiny cottage was actually a multi story mansion that sat on lakefront property.

they had lunch on the dock. if you can call gourmet sandwiches and macrons lunch. then it was time. time to put on the solar eclipse glasses. they stood there and watched as the moon slowly met with the sun. once it hit totality sam took off his glasses and got on one knee. “cindy take off your glasses.” as soon as she saw him she said yes. he didn’t even pull out the ring. she just said yes. “but you don’t know what i’m doing.” he said. she sighed barely containing her excitement. sam took that as his cue to pull the ring out of his pocket. “will you-” she interrupted him with a yes. “marry-” yes again. “my dog.” she almost said yes again. he had a huge smile on his face when she finally stopped saying yes. “finally. will you marry me. not my dog. i dont even have a dog but maybe one day we can get one. now you can say yes.” finally she said yes a million times. yay for happy beginnings.
