marisol was finishing up some school work when jasper came out of the shower. it felt like one of those dramatic movie moments when the bathroom door opens and the steam just seems to roll out in waves as the handsome man stands in the middle of it in just a towel. she had to laugh. this was too funny. “do you always come out of the shower this dramatically or is it just a special occasion?”

          Koda didn’t know how long he had been staring at his phone already. It felt like hours, but it was also possible that it had been only a few minutes. After the day he had, he just felt like talking to someone -- and lately that someone had been Noor. He never thought he could really get a connection to someone online, it was Aria who initially signed him up to make sure he got out there, even if that was the last thing he wanted. But, well, fate happened and he did get a little too attached to someone he hardly knew. After all Noor just didn’t give in to his begging to facetime or skype, just because he felt a little less insane when he had a face added to the voice he listened to. It made him question what they had, who she was, if what they had was as sincere as he thought it was. But in the end he ended up dialing her number anyway, a small smile appearing on his lips as she lifted up and her voice reached his ears. The only good thing about his days anymore. “Hey stranger.”

“listen, i let you attempt to cook last week. my asshole immediately regretted it.” he had nightmares about her cooking. so many times he has taught her simple recipes. so many times she has messed them up. just the other night she almost made him eat burnt pasta. “i love you but i’d rather you sit and look pretty instead of tainting my kitchen this week.” dorian quickly opened the refrigerator door hiding behind it because kenna was bound to throw something at him.

baby mary signaled the beginning of a new era for lura. things were different now. she couldn’t be as selfish as she once was. she’d have to be a picture perfect wife and mother. anything else was unacceptable. in a way she turned out the exact way she didn’t want to. just like her mother except she loved her husband. luras mother often expressed her hatred for her former husband. lu on the other hand couldn’t be more thankful for alfie. he’s more than she ever imagined. being around him made her want to be her best self. lately things were different. lu found herself distancing from alfie. even yelling at him for no reason. she didn’t know what was happening. the logical part was telling her that it was just hormones. unfortunately for both lura and alfie the emotional side won out. 

she was laid down on the couch after putting mary down for a nap. shortly after the tears started to fall. she felt so overwhelmed. from being an awful wife to alfie to mary waking up and screaming. it became too much at times. crying helped. it made her face look blotchy and ugly afterward but it helped. when she felt the couch move the crying only got worse. “go away.” she choked out. that wasn’t what she wanted. it just seemed like the thing to say.

“how did you know i was back?” spending time with miriam and nathan was exactly what marisol needed. new hair, new clothes, new memories. it was only a week but a week was all she needed. when she opened her door to see jasper, it was like she hadn’t even left. hello wasn’t the thing she wanted to say. there were whys and hows. not pleasant hellos. she was still angry.

“welcome back fabio. it’s weird not to see you without tall, pale, and rude.” she said with a grin. haven saw him coming from across the street. it was dead at this hour. they had a few appointments later in the day. right now is the perfect time for walk ins. she was organizing the body jewelry when he came in. “what do you need today? we’re having a sale on piercings so today would be the perfect day to get a hole in your body.”

alex had gotten an offer from a wealthy businessman who wanted to franchise the night owl. that meant business meetings and fancy lunches. it was a hard decision to make. ultimately it was the best decision. his attachment to the original night owl was just sentimental. in the end franchising it would be better for his pockets. this was the first person who actually seemed authentic. they didn’t want to play him or try to change the place too much. alex had the best lawyer on his side just in case the deal did go sour. 

he was alone in the elevator for a floor before it stopped allowing another person to board. “hi.” the elevator started descending before coming to a halt. “oh god no.”
