It had never even occurred to Gabrielle that she’d arrived in Holiday right in the middle of the Fourth of July celebration. Her family had never celebrated it to the extent this place did, and with everything happening lately, it’d just been a blip in the back of her mind. She wandered towards the barbeque a little slowly, not sure if she was even really welcome there since she was just here on a whim. But it got her out of her hotel room, and it got her thinking of something other than the place that didn’t feel like home anymore, so she was going to at least try. Smiling, she headed over to an empty seat beside another someone. “Are you waiting for anybody? If you’re not, would you mind if I took this seat?”
“there’s a good chance, i’ve had a bit to much to drink, but don’t you think fireworks are actual magic.” adeline shouted over the bangs as she looked up at the sky that was lit with color, she’d had the best day, dressed in designer red, white and blue she’d been like a kid in a candy store at the celebrations, back and forth between the people she had met in town so far. “i mean i know it’s science, but i’m sure they use a little magic too.” in her mind they had to,everything was just to pretty for them to not.
casper was sitting there, with her drink, at the bbq. it was nice, there was a general air of excitement and the sounds of children’s laughter and joy filled the air. “you know,” she said mostly to herself, “i wonder if i have a seance tonight, if i could conjure the spirit of alexander hamilton.”
the most magical time of the summer is here! the one day to take a breather and despite how much america has and is messing up, that it’s made some progress. time to gather around with your friends and family for barbecues and cookouts, and to enjoy the lazy summer. then, of course the brightly colored fireworks!
here in holiday, they go hard, obviously. this is the first holiday that they ever celebrated in town, and it’s time to not only celebrate the country’s beginnings, but also their own. there’s a parade in the morning, all the music department’s marching bands, notable figures, the news station, anybody who’s anybody in town is in it. then, there’s a town wide barbecue at the park that all the restaurants and bars ban together to make sure there’s enough food and drink. of course there’s a bounce house, games, a three legged race, and tons of activities for the kids.
then as the afternoon cools off, it’s time for everyone to make their way to the grandstand at the fairgrounds for one of the biggest firework shows in the country full stop. be sure to get your tickets, it’s a spectacle that even out of town folks get tickets to go to!

her ears were still ringing with the sounds of the firework show, but god, what a fantastic spectacle. maybe, just maybe, she understood why people were so in love with this town. as she was walking back to the inn, she couldn’t help but admire the lights hanging up and illuminating the way back, the fireflies twinkling in the grass. it was so perfect, that she barely even noticed that someone else was walking to, but she didn’t mind when she did notice. they were all friends tonight. “how are you doing, friend?”
it was quite the busy morning for anna, well this whole week was, being on the festival planning board was quite a position around the holidays, but having to be in the parade itself was also a lot of work. she quartermarked all nine of her horses with festive stars and strips, and had their manes and tails groomed to the tee. then she had to get all of the home and washed and get herself cleaned up before she could join the party.
she was here though, and she knocked down a beer before slamming in on the table, “i think a game of darts sounds fun.”
oliver-titus, as a general rule, hated these types of events. he just thought they were loud, unnecessary, and hot. what was the point of doing all of this? to get drunk? why not do that inside at a comfortable, air conditioned, bar? to have fun? oliver-titus could think of a million other things to do that would be more fun than things, but still, inspiration could be found almost anywhere. so, he was looking in the most unlikely spots, and snapping the occasional picture, though it was clear he wasn’t having fun.
simona was enjoying the festivities, of course she was, she genuinely enjoyed them, but as the mayor, she was obligated to enjoy it anyway. she was dressed to the nines in patriotic gear, white pants, a red blouse, and a blue blazer with an american flag broach. of course, she was out there, shaking hands and smiling, “i’m so glad you could make it to the festival today!”
