“...Why a priestess.” he finally, finally decided to ask that question of her. Maybe it was because she was tasked with protectin’ the nearby village, n’she was always with those lil kids, babysittin’, or helping out some elders with their chores. He’d watched her from afar for a while now, n’finally figured he could approach her once she was alone.

Once he was sure nobody else’d bug him, or scream n’run from just the sight’a him. Like they always did.

Not her. She was different though.

...It dawned on him that he’d never asked her what her name was. N’he hadn’t heard it from anybody else either. They were always calling her ‘priestess’ this or ‘holy one’ that. Never her actual name.

Er, wait. Could it be that priestess was her name? Who named their kid--

Mn, nah. He was named InuYasha, he really shouldn’t be castin’ stones on that front.

The subject of the Shikon no Tama had been on the lips of his bandits for weeks now. A subject he cared not for in the long run of things. Though, he could not deny his bandits when a potential trinket for theft came up. The jewel piqued his interest, if only because it could supposedly increase the strength of a demon to heights untouched. His bandits could always tell that golden eyes showed no interest in the gem, and yet he indulged them nonetheless.

With this, the bandit king arrived at the village of the priestess said to be holding the trinket in her possession.

He stood in a tree, glaring down at the woman, one slick black brow raised in curiosity. Her power could be felt from miles away, a strong priestess. And yet, there was a sorrow and a sadness to her that made the air around them electric. The fox ears matching the color of his hair were flicking slightly as the electricity in the air resounded between their conflicting auras. He tilted his head to the side and jumped to land on the ground, taking a step or two closer to the woman before stopping.

"The priestess who holds the Jewel, I presume?"

"Now you've turned the question on me, huh?" His face remained unchanged, pondering on the thought a slight grin forms upon his face. "At first I thought you were cold, detached and thought only for yourself... But as time went by, I have come to garner these feelings about you." he takes a second to regain his composure, deeply inhaling before facing her once more. The young man paused momentarily once more 

"You have become a bright light to my world as you are truly worth protecting, especially if it means risking my life. I am happy no matter the occassion, even if it is only for a moment... I fear that If you left this world, it would break me and I would never regain this kind of happiness.”

Damn that wretch... 

That woman, Kagome had nearly taken his life just nights ago when he used the demon slayer to steal Inuyasha’s precious sword. She was just a reincarnation, but no doubt, the spider had underestimated her tenacity. He would have to remove her from the equation... and soon. Or else dire consequences would befall him and his plans.

The sound of approaching footsteps shook his from his dazed state, listening to the murmurs of the castle guards. His masquerade as the late young lord was without fail. As far as they were concerned, he was their beloved “Kagewaki Hitomi.” But little did they know, they were flies dancing on the threads of a spider’s web. 

Ruby eyes narrowed as the footsteps neared his quarters, voices growing louder. One guard speaking up they brought someone who could cure “Lord Kagewaki’s illness”... a priestess. Didn’t he specifically say he wished to remain undisturbed? He grit his teeth, weakly pulling himself to sit with his eyes trained on the sliding door. A new feeling of helplessness rushing through Naraku’s body to his core. If a priestess sensed any demonic aura within him, his identity would be revealed. Yet, he was left completely vulnerable after that arrow’s blow to his body.

      that priestess was back – her presence annoyed the half demon like no other but he couldn’t put his finger on why. inuyasha wasn’t very self aware nor was he good at self reflection – he probably would never know why ( not fully anyway ). he didn’t speak and he didn’t move to get close, he was just there – watching and observing from afar.      the half demon didn’t get close to the village but the villagers knew him – the half demon that lurked on the edges and hid in the trees – most thought he was dangerous but that was the furthest thing from the truth. mostly harmless, but very moody.

How was it possible he sensed a great evil within Naraku... but a flicker of loneliness as well?

Byakuya frowned, arms crossing within his sleeves as he flew across the skies upon his origami crane. The question had intrigued him ever since his creation when he first sensed the opposing forces within Naraku’s body. Despite the urge to voice his feelings and the inquiry hidden deep within his person however, Byakuya never dared to mention his thoughts to his creator. After all, he knew the consequences of voicing such thoughts.

Byakuya’s thoughts eventually lead him to where he was now in his search for answers. The incarnation only knew of one individual who might know the answers he sought and he had every intention of finding her. Just then, a glimmer of silver caught his gaze just as it vanished into the tree line. Indigo orbs narrowed as he moved to follow it, eventually landing on the forest floor.

There is was, a lone eel like demon clutching a glowing ball of light. It soared above a lone priestess sitting at the base of a large tree before dropping the light into the woman’s chest. So, this was the woman Naraku sought to kill... Kikyo. 

He had found her...
